Malaysia living at the razor’s edge

Malaysians are living at the razor’s edge.

Friday will be the first 100 days of the Anwar Unity Government.

For the past three months, many Malaysians had been living on hopes, that Malaysia can reset and return to the original nation-building principles of the nation’s founding fathers written into the Malaysian Constitution and the Rukun Negara to unite a very polarised multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural people so that Malaysia can become a first-rate world-class nation with world-class political, economic, educational, and social systems instead of hurtling along to end up as a divided, failed, and kleptocratic state.

After six decades of nation-building, Malaysia has slipped from a first-rate world-class nation to a second-class mediocre country. We are losing out to Indonesia, Thailand, and Vietnam. We have become a nation in decline.

Are we fated to end up as a divided, failed, and kleptocratic state on Malaysia’s Centennial in 2057?

PAS President, Hadi Awang, thinks so.

That is why he predicted last night that Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government will collapse soon.

Hadi made the prediction during a dialogue organised by book publisher Yayasan Permata Ummah in Kuala Lumpur last night.

If Hadi is right, then the 16th Yang di Pertuan Agong’s wish in his Royal Address opening the 15th Parliament on 13th February that Anwar Ibrahim will be his final prime minister appointment before his tenure ends next January will not come true.

But is Hadi up to another Sheraton Move political conspiracy to topple the Anwar unity government or was he just whistling in the dark?

Before the Anwar’s unity government’s first 100 days were up on Friday. Hadi wanted Malaysians to worry about the toppling of the Anwar unity government.

Hadi does not want to wait for the second “Hundred Days” test after June when general elections are held in six states — Penang, Selangor, Negri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu — to prove that there is an invincible “Green Wave” and wants the Anwar unity government dead and buried well before that.

May be the PAS President is up to no good to deny Malaysians the opportunity to unite a very polarised multi-racial, multi-lingual, multi-religious, and multi-cultural people so as to reset and return to the original nation-building principles of Malaysia to become a first-rate world-class nation, or he was just dreaming and bluffing.

Whatever it is, the nation will know soon.
