“Removal” of Mahathir, Mukhriz, Maszlee, Syed Saddiq and Amiruddin as members of Bersatu the most blatant display of “politicking” by Muhyiddin during the Covid-19 outbreak, giving the lie to his claim that since becoming Prime Minister, he had not thought about politics as the people are sick of it

=====================

The attempted “removal” of Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, Mukhriz Mahathir, Maszlee Malik, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and Amiruddin Hamzah as members of Bersatu is the most blatant display of “politicking” by the Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and gave the lie to his claim last month that since becoming Prime Minister on March 1, he had not thought about politics as the people are “sick” of it.

In fact, it has raised again the question why the Malaysian Parliament is locked down and MPs barred from performing their constitutional duties of parliamentary oversight and scrutiny of the Executive during the Covid-19 outbreak, when in countries where the Covid-19 pandemic runs into hundreds of thousands of confirmed cases with death toll in five-digit figures, their Parliaments are not muzzled or locked away.

Parliament in Singapore, for instance, met normally both before and after Malaysia’s one-day Parliament of May 18, when no parliamentary business was allowed to be transacted.

Muhyiddin’s greatest “achievement” in his Hundred Days as Prime Minister is his locking way of Parliament – earning infamy not only for himself but also for Malaysia.

Mahathir and the four other Bersatu leaders are challenging the legality of their removal as Bersatu members, but the lockdown of Parliament and the paralysing of the constitutional role of Members of Parliament of oversight and scrutiny of the Executive during the Covid-19 outbreak still await an answer from the self-proclaimed “non-politicking” Prime Minister.

To be fair, Muhiyiddin is caught in a rock and hard place. He should not be politicking but he has no choice and it has to be extreme because the mistake was the Sheraton Move itself was a bad idea and badly thought through. He and Azmin took a gamble and thought Mahathir would cave and got it extremely wrong.

But the real condemnation of Muhiyiddin-Azmin is that so far, the politicking is clumsy and full of mistake. Its no way to solve a tough problem. If Mahathir holds up, Muhiyiddin-Azmin is sure to lose one way or other, sooner or later, to Mahathir or someone else.

The core of Muhiyiddin-Azmin predicament is they were the one who recruited Mahathir to take down Najib and before they finish the job, they decided they wanted something else i.e.either not for Anwar to be PM or not partner with DAP. Instead they betrayed the agreement of forming Bersatu and partnered with still powerful Najib. Mahathir may have planned always to backstabbed PH, but he understand the critical importance of fixing corruption first, at least putting Najib in jail before wanting anything else. What was the point of beginning Bersatu if you do not plan to finish the first job first?

Muhiyiddin mistake before agreeing to Sherston Move, he had no plan to send Najib to jail first. Its Najib that is his problem, not Mahathir. Well, his first mistake was listening to the unreliable gay Azmin.

Isn’t it poetic while Mahathir held court at Bersatu HQ after supposedly being fired but they have to run back to the Sheraton, the venue of the origin of their current predicament..

Muhiyiddin-Azmin is sure to lose eventually, not because of Mahathir but Truth is if all along Azmin did not want Anwar to be PM and Muhiyiddin wanted to turn against DAP, they should have personally made sure Najib’s cases were expedited as quickly as possible. In other words, they should made sure their first job, jailing Najib was finished before trying anything. The fact they did not planned it, proved they are unreliable politician and leaders and deserve to fail and lose. Its just bad work.

Azmin-Muhiyiddin continue mistake now is they do not get it fighting Mahathir is not their main problem, its only their immediate problem. They are in big big trouble and do not get it. The real answer to their problem is seek peace with Mahathir by having a plan to finish their original job – finishing off Najib. If they have no such plan, they will sure to fail. There is no short cut.

The real question of current situation is its u predictable who will pay for Muhiyiddin-Azmin folly other than themselves. The real risk that should concern us is we the rakyat pays for most of it when they continue to dig themselves bigger holes and dragged us all into it. If their folly ends up putting back Najib-Rosmah and this time surely with Hadi Awang, then we are really pay for it far more than 1MDB had cost us, far far more..

Muhiyiddin seems to have decided that the way to defeat Mahathir is to step by step paint Mahathir as the recalcitrant old leader who has always made life difficult for those under him. In not direct confrontation with Mahathir but making him overeact to supposedly the action of his underlings who supposedly are the only ones who want stern actions against Mahathir and his team, he paints Mahathir as recalcitrant stubborn leader instead of someone who has stuck to his principles, promises they made, while the they are the ones who misread him, took actions against his stated wishes and betrayed their original goals over racism and religo-political excuses.

Its interesting Muhiyddin decides now he (perhaps with Azmin) can beat Mahathir in Malay retail and wholesale politics when everyone has lost to him so far
