DAP can accept Fadzil Noor or Nik Aziz as Prime Minister-designate for Malaysia but not Hadi Awang

PAS President Datuk Seri Hadi Awang is very smooth and slick as he denied what I never said.

Taking to Facebook, Hadi said:

“As far as I remember, PAS never nominated me to be prime minister, nor did I declare myself to be prime minister-designate.”

I never said PAS nominated him to be Prime Minister or that he had declared himself to be Prime Minister-designate.

What I said yesterday was that the reason why Hadi and other PAS leaders are telling lies about the DAP being anti-Malay and anti-Islam was because the DAP had refused to support Hadi as the Prime Minister candidate for Pakatan Rakyat in the 13th General Election in 2013.

The move for Hadi to be the Prime Minister candidate for Pakatan Rakyat for the 13th General Election was a very smooth and slick operation, without any name being mentioned.

This is what I said yesterday:

“Before the 13th General Election, Hadi through the PAS leadership had approached me to broach the subject of a Prime Ministerial-designate, on the ground the Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was not a suitable candidate.

“PAS leaders was a quite astute as not to suggest themselves that Hadi should be the Prime Ministerial candidate for Pakatan Rakyat, and diplomatically suggested that their proposal for a suitable Prime Ministerial candidate was veteran UMNO politician Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

“When DAP leaders dissented and held to our view that Anwar should continue to be the Prime Ministerial candidate for Pakatan Rakyat, and we made no suggestion that Hadi should instead be considered as the Prime Ministerial candidate, the PAS leaders knew that the DAP would not support Hadi as the Prime Minister-designate and the proposal replace Anwar as the Prime Ministerial candidate was not further pursued.”

I agree with Hadi. PAS had never nominated him to be Prime Minister for the 13th General Election or did he declare himself to be Prime Minister-designate.

Why?

Because PAS leaders at the time had tested the waters to change Anwar as the Prime Minister-designate, and found that DAP was consistent in our stand that the Prime Minister-designate be Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and any attempt to propose Hadi as replacement for Anwar would not get the support from DAP as well as PKR.

Hadi had not denied that before the 13th General Election PAS leaders had approached DAP leaders for a change of the Prime Minister-designate on the ground that Anwar was not suitable.

I do not know why there is, no chemistry between Anwar and Hadi as there was chemistry between Anwar and the previous PAS President Fadzil Noor or former Kelantan Mentri Besar and PAS Murshyidul Am Nik Aziz Nik Mat.

This must go back to the history of the relationship between Hadi and Anwar, but this is none of my business and I do not intend to intrude into the matter, but only where such matters impinged on the political development of the country and at that time, Pakatan Rakyat.

Hadi has very serious character flaw as a Malaysian political leader, unlike Fadzil Noor or Nik Aziz.

This is why DAP could accept Fadzil Noor and Nik Aziz as Prime Minister-designate for Malaysia, but not Hadi Awang.

Hadi himself should know the reasons. It boils down to trust – DAP leaders can trust Fadzil Noor and Nik Aziz to keep to their word but not Hadi Awang.
