One option MCA should consider is to close shop if the best it can do in the Balakong by-election is to keep its deposit (or secure 12.5% of total votes cast) even with PAS help

I am really surprised by the low standards and expectations of MCA leaders on the eve of the 60th MCA anniversary in their reaction to the Balakong by-election result.

For instance, the MCA Deputy President, the sole MCA parliamentary survivor in the 14th General Election and MCA master campaigner in the Balakong by-election, Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong claimed success for the MCA outing, saying that MCA had gained a higher percentage of support compared to the May election.

Wee said MCA earned a higher percentage of support of almost 15 per cent compared to 10.7 per cent in GE14.

This is really pathetic.

One option MCA should really consider on the eve of its 60th anniversary is to close shop if the best it can do in the Balakong by-election is to keep its deposit (or secure 12.5% of total votes cast) evem with PAS help, which means that without PAS help, the MCA candidate would have lost his deposit in the by-election!

What a fall from MCA’s height and halcyon days when it had four Ministers, 31 Members of Parliament, 76 State Assembly representatives and thousands of local councillors and ketua kampongs to its pathetic present when MCA has to fight to keep its deposit (i.e. win one-eighth of the votes cast) only with the help of PAS!

I congratulate Wong Siew Kin for her sterling victory in the Balakong by-election, all the more significant in increasing DAP’s vote share from 77.5 per cent in the 14thh General Election to 85 per cent in the by-election despite the lowest voter turnout of 43% in the country’s electoral history.

The Balakong by-election results have confirmed my analysis that a MCA/UMNO/PAS unholy alliance will only result in PAS and UMNO making use of MCA to “borrow a corpse to resurrect the soul” (借尸还魂) to try to recover from their abject defeats in the 14GE.

It is very significant that neither in the Balakong nor Seri Setia 21-day by-election campaigns, the MCA/UMNO/PAS unholy alliance had said a word of condemnation or repudiation of the corruption and abuses of power of the Najib government, in particular the international 1MDB corruption and money-laundering scandal which had given Malaysia the infamy, ignominy and iniquity of a global kleptocracy.

This shows the real character and purpose of the MCA/UMNO/PAS unholy alliance whose formation was given a great push in the Balakong and Seri Setia by-elections.

MCA leaders, delegates and members (MCA claims to have a membership of more than a million members) must now decide whether to go through with the MCA/UMNO/PAS unholy alliance, and condemn the present MCA leaders for their unholy alliance with PAS in the Balakong by-eleciton or to break totally not only with PAS but also with UMNO unless all three parties are prepared to fully reform and condemn the corruption, abuses of power and injustices of the Najib government.

I also congratulate Halimey Abu Bakor for his victory in the Seri Setia by-election, polling 13,725 votes to beat PAS’ candidate, Dr. Halimah Ali with 9,698 votes.

UMNO itself is losing in its alliance with PAS, MCA is just collosally stupid to even let political nuclear waste near them.

But its clear UMNO is willing to lose further to get protection under PAS umbrella. Let’s loose the pretence PAS is not the main opposition. Its indulgent to still focus on Najib, MCA even UMNO.

UMNO-PAS proposition is a kleptocratic theocracy. Imagine an Islamic Donald Trump in Malaysia, we will not survive.

PH leaders, all the way up top is equally apathetic as the voters of Balakong.

My guess is the next GE, UMNO will get half of what they are getting now because in GE14, they won by using extreme Merrygandering/Delineation and other despicable actions. If GE15 comes around and PH govt. shows good or even excellent governance and make the lives of Malaysians better plus setting reforms of the constituencies and election laws, UMNO will be forced to change to a more democratic party or face wipe-out like MCA/MIC.

I hope one day we can say bye-bye to frequent bye-elections and black index fingers. Mighty kind of Danial Balagopal to sacrifice himself without any compensation whatsoever, but why could not his wife or daughter do the sacrifice instead? Port Dickson is a risky parachute venture. Low turnout could do harm to Anwar.

(I meant Anwar’s wife or Anwar’s daughter, not Laksamana Danial’s)
