Has the MCA leadership, starting with MCA President Liow Tiong Lai, lost confidence in Najib that it is putting up Xi Jinping’s photograph on MCA election billboards instead of Najib?

The question swirling in the minds of Malaysians is whether the MCA leadership, starting with the MCA President, Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai, has lost confidence in the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, believing that Barisan Nasional would lose in the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018 that MCA is putting up the photograph of the China’s President, Xi Jinping on MCA billboards instead of that of Najib?

This is the latest sign of the political bankruptcy of MCA.

But what is shocking is the rude and inexcusable action of the Election Commission tearing out the image of Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad – the most blatant being the Election Commission’s action this morning cutting out Mahathir’s image from the billboard in Ayer Hitam, which had displayed the photographs of DAP/Pakatan Harapan candidate, Liew Ching Tong on the right, Tun Mahathir at the centre and the DAP/PH candidate for Yong Peng state assembly seat, Chew Pek Choo on the left.

I do not believe that the enforcement officers are happy at all in carrying out the most unreasonable and excessive orders to cut out Mahathir’s image from the election billboard, and the Prime Minister must explain why government servants are forced to do such an unpopular and unreasonable directive. People of Buloh Kasap and Segamat join Malaysians to condemn the cutting out of Mahathir’s image from giant billboard in Ayer Hitam contest

The people of Buloh Kasap and Segamat join all right-thinking Malaysians to condemn the cutting out of the image of Malaysia’s longest-serving Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad from a giant billboard in Ayer Hitam, featuring DAP/PH candidate for Ayer Hitam parliamentary constituency, Liew Ching Tong, Tun Mahathir and the DAP/PH candidate for Yong Peng state assembly seat, Chew Pek Choo.

I saw the photographs on Malaysiakini report on the cutting out of Mahathir’s image from the giant billboard half an hour ago, and I must confess that I was utterly shocked that such disrespect and contempt for the seniors and elders in the country could happen in so blatant and brazen a manner.

Let me say that it is not only the Chinese and Indians in Malaysia who are outraged at the contempt shown to Mahathir, I believe that the overwhelming majority of Malays in Malaysia will be equally outraged.

Why is Najib so frightened of Mahathir? Read the rest of this entry »

Just as Chinese in Malaysia do not perish without MCA, Indians do not perish without MIC, Malays will not perish without UMNO

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, said there is no Malay tsunami, but his actions belie his words.

He appears to be increasingly desperate that there will be a Malay tsunami, making him resort to the politics of race, hate and fear to an extent which had never been done by any Prime Minister and UMNO President before.

He even alleged that it is the DAP which is inventing the Malay tsunami.

But up and down the country, a Malay tsunami is in the making, and the question is whether the Malay tsunami will be strong and powerful enough by Polling Day on May 9, 2018 to dislodge Najib and the UMNO/BN coalition from Putrajaya.

Pollster Merdeka Centre confirms that there is a Malay tsunami at the beginning of April, but was of view that it was not strong enough to put Pakatan Harapan in power. Read the rest of this entry »

Loss of one parliamentary and five state assembly seats on Nomination Day will fire up the spirit of Pakatan Harapan leaders, members and supporters to work trebly hard to effect change of the Prime Minister, governments and policies on May 9, 2018

The loss of one parliamentary seat and five state assembly seats on Nomination Day, instead of acting like a wet rag to dampen the enthusiasm of Pakatan Harapan leaders, members and supporters, will have the opposite effect of firing up their spirit and determination to work trebly hard to effect change of the Prime Minister, governments and policies on May 9, 2018.

Pakatan Harapan does not deny that the loss of one parliamentary and five state assembly seats on Nomination Day is a setback, but this is not the result of the choice of the voters but further example of the wholesale cheating, underhand and undemocratic tactics of the Najib administration to “steal” the 14th General Election so that he could stay in power as Prime Minister.

But Najib is very wrong if he thinks that the loss of one parliamentary and five state assembly seats will break the spirit of Pakatan Harapan for political change on May 9.

On the contrary, it will be regarded as a further but costly reminder that the stakes on May 9, 2018 are very high, that this golden opportunity for the first political change in the country in 61 years must not be wasted, for such opportunity is not going to return for a very long time. A Pakatan Harapan Malaysian Government will give priority to restore justice, freedom, rule of law and a clean and good government to Malaysians

If the Filipinos can change their President on May 9 two years ago, and the South Koreans can change their President on May 9 last year, the question is whether Malaysians can change their Prime Minister on May 9 this year.

If there is a change of Prime Minister on May 9, Datuk Seri Najib Razak will be the new Parliamentary Opposition Leader if he survives in UMNO, and Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad will be the seventh Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail the new Deputy Prime Minister creating history as the first Malaysian woman to hold this high post, while Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be set to become the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

This will herald a political change and a re-set of nation-building policies and directions in Malaysia, and Malaysians will again dare to dream and work to achieve the Malaysian Dream to make Malaysia a world top-class nation instead of as at present, hurtling in the trajectory towards a failed, rogue and kleptocratic state.

A top priority if Pakatan Harapan forms the new Malaysian Government on May 9 will be to set up a high-powered commission to find ways to get the million-odd best and brightest Malaysians who form the Malaysian Diaspora all over the world to return to rebuild Malaysia; and secondly, to ensure that the new generation of Malaysians do not have to emigrate overseas so that their capabilities and talents can find fulfilment. Pakatan Harapan has sent the brightest of the new generation of Malaysians to Johor to transform the state into a frontier for political change in Malaysia

Pakatan Harapan has sent the brightest of the new generation of Malaysians in the 14th General Election to Johore to transform the state into a frontier for political change in Malaysia.

In the 13th General Election, DAP sent party strategist Liew Chin Tong from Bukit Bendera in Penang to Kluang and DAP woman leader Teo Nie Ching from Serdang in Selangor to Kulai.

For the 14th General Election, Yeo Bee Yin, who won the Selangor State Assembly seat of Damansara with a majority of over 30,000 votes in 2013, have left a very safe seat to contest in a risky Bakri parliamentary seat in Johore.

Pakatan Harapan has sent a Malay intellectual, Dr. Maszlee Malik from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) to contest for the parliamentary seat of Simpang Renggam and three-time winner of Asia’s Best Speaker Award, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, 25, to contest in the parliamentary seat of Muar.

PKR has sent its youth leader, Akmal Nasir, INVOKE Chief Resource Office and Executive Director of National Oversight and Whistleblowers (NOW) to contest the Johor Bahru parliamentary seat while Amanah has sent its national organizing secretary and long-time champion of the rights of Felda settlers, Suhaizan Kaiat to contest the Kukup state assembly seat.

Malaysians must not be disheartened by loss of one parliamentary and five state assembly seats during Nomination Day yesterday but must work harder for People’s Power to triumph over Najib and UMNO/BN

I was confronted by a concerned Malaysian during the Johor Jaya walkabout asking what to do now that Pakatan Harapan has lost one parliamentary and five state assembly seats during Nomination Day yesterday.

I am sure that this is a question many Malaysians are asking, and my answer is that we should not be disheartened but must treble our efforts to bring about political change in Malaysia and demonstrate that People’s Power can triump over the chicaneries and trickeries of Datuk Seri Najib Razak and UMNO/BN.

What has happened so far has only validated what the international magazine Economist reported recently that Najib Razak is a thief and would steal the 2018 general election.

The constituency redelineation, which is the worst gerrymandering in the nation’s 61-year history, together with the 3Ms of money, mass media and (government) machinery, the biggest theft of elections is set to take place on May 9, 2018.

This is why we must change the rules of the game, so that these calculations of these UMNO/BN strategists could be proven wrong. Read the rest of this entry »

Call on people of Iskandar Puteri to be the pivot of the national campaign to Save Malaysia and to take the first step for Malaysia to become a normal democracy

UMNO is confident that Barisan Nasional can defeat me in Iskander Puteri parliamentary constituency, believing that if MCA can get the support of 30 per cent of the Chinese votes, UMNO would do the rest.

UMNO strategists on how Barisan Nasional could defeat me in Iskander Puteri may be right or wrong, as only when the votes are opened and counted on May 9 would we know whether the UMNO/BN plan to end my 52-year political career in Iskandar Puteri will succeed.

But it is very sad that everywhere, BN coalition is just a political contraption to hide UMNO’s real design to further marginalse the other Barisan Nasional component parties.

I am reminded of the words of the UMNO veteran and Johor Baru Member of Parliament, when we met at the steps of the entrance of Parliament in the last week of the 13th Parliament.

He asked whether I was contesting against him in the Johor Baru parliamentary seat, and when I told him that it was not a DAP seat but a PKR seat, Shahrir said:“What DAP wants, DAP gets; what DAP wants, DAP takes”. Read the rest of this entry »

Although Pakatan Harapan has lost one seat on Nomination Day, efforts must be trebled nation-wide to reach the target of winning 119 parliamentary seats on Polling Day on May 9

Ten day ago, I said that Pakatan Harapan should set a target of winning 120 of the total of 222 parliamentary seats to earn the clear and unmistakable right to form the new Malaysian Government in Putrajaya which would show that a decisive majority of Malaysians no longer a kleptocratic and corrupt Barisan Nasional.

I said that this target is achievable especially if a Malaysian tsunami sweeps across the nation bringing together Malays, Chinese, Indians, Ibans, Kadazans and others to vote against the BN and to strongly support Pakatan Harapan to form the next federal government.

To achieve this target of winning 120 parliamentary seats, Pakatan Harapan must defend all 89 parliament seats won by the opposition in the 13th General Election in 2013 and win another 31 out of the 56 marginal BN parliament seats in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Sarawak.

Set Malaysia Free – let this be the objective of all Malaysians in the 14GE

This is my 12th General Elections participation, but for the first time in five decades, I will not be using the Rocket symbol. Instead I will be using the Pakatan Harapan common logo of the PKR’s blue-eyes.

This is not an easy decision for DAP leaders to make, as for more than half a century, DAP leaders and members have fought and suffered in the name of the Rocket, endured the ups and downs, the trials and tribulations of staying true to the DAP objectives and principles for Malaysian unity, harmony, integrity, justice, freedom and the rule of law.

I was detained twice under the Internal Security Act, prosecuted in court and underwent various harassments as a DAP Member of Parliament; the DAP Secretary-General and Penang Chief Minister; Lim Guan Eng was detained under the ISA, disqualified as MP for Kota Melaka and went to Kajang Prison for a year for defending the honour and dignity of an underaged Malay girl and was disenfranchised and unable to cast his vote or stand for elective office for five years; many DAP leaders were jailed, prosecuted in court and their livelihood harassed in the past five decades because DAP leaders had remained true and loyal to DAP objectives and principles.

All this we did under the Roket symbol – so it was a most painful and heart-wrenching decision for DAP leaders to take not to use the Rocket symbol.

But extraordinary times call all for extraordinary responses – and the 14th General Election is indeed an extraordinary occasion. Read the rest of this entry »

Johor State Government is now winnable for the first time in 61 years

One new feature of the 14th General Election is presented by Johore, where for the first time in 61 years, Johor State Government is winnable for the Opposition.

I have just seen the Malaysiakini report entitldd “Survey: Harapan, BN neck and neck in Johor popular vote” which fortifies this possibility.

The Malaysiakini report reads:

“Pakatan Harapan and BN are neck and neck in terms of popular vote in Johor, which is the birthplace of Umno, with less than two weeks to go before the May 9 general election.

“According to a survey by Merdeka Centre, the popular vote is 47 percent for BN and 42 percent for Harapan while PAS is at 11 percent.

“According to a racial breakdown, 60.9 percent Malays, 22.4 percent Chinese and 64.3 percent Indians are supporting BN as of April 9.

“For Harapan, 19.4 percent Malay, 77.6 percent Chinese and 32.7 percent Indian are supporting the opposition coalition.

“PAS has 19.2 percent Malay and three percent Indian support while Chinese backing is negligible for the Islamist party.

“However, for Harapan to have a realistic chance of capturing Nusajaya, it needs to win substantially more support than BN to overcome gerrymandering.

“Specifically, Harapan needs 10 percent more Malay support and five percent more Chinese support, according to Merdeka Centre executive director Ibrahim Suffian.

“’At this moment, they (Harapan) are not here yet.

“’You can see BN support among Malays in Johor have dropped but those who are not voting BN appear to be split between PAS and Harapan,’ he pointed out.”

“Merdeka Centre estimated that around 20.9 percent of Malay voters had moved from BN since the last general election.

“However, BN is still ahead in Johor despite suffering the worst drop in Malay support compared to other states due to a high base effect from the last general election.

“’If Harapan really wants to win, they need 10 percent more Malay support and up the Chinese support in order to cross the line and they have less than 14 days left to get things done,’ said Ibrahim.”

Be that as it may, the Merdeka Centre report shows that the Pakatan Harapan plan to replace UMNO/BN as the Johor State Government in Nusajaya is do-able; and even more important, that Johore can contribute a quota of 14 Parliamentary seats to the target of winning 120 Parliamentary seats in the 14GE to form the Malaysian Government in Putrajaya is within the realm of possibility on May 9 2018.

Despite adverse Merdeka Centre findings, 15 million Malaysian voters can create a Brexit-like upset and replace UMNO/BN with Pakatan Harapan Federal Government in 14GE

Yesterday, pollster Merdeka Centre reported that Barisan Nasioal has recovered from its low approval ratings previously caused by the implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and the revelation of the 1MDB affair.

Its programme director Ibrahim Suffian presented data that showed sentiments towards the incumbent federal government had improved, with approval ratings increasing to 39 percent generally and to 47 percent among the Malays.

Ibahim said this was enough for BN to extend its hold on power in the 14th general election (GE14).

His graphs showed that back in 2015 when the GST was introduced and the 1MDB affair first came to light, general satisfaction with the direction of the country dropped drastically to 16 percent.

I do not accept fully the Merdeka Centre findings but it is a salutary reminder that the battle to defeat UMNO/BN in the 14th General Election is not going to be an easy one, although it is not impossible. Read the rest of this entry »

Challenge to the 730-odd BN parliamentary and state assembly candidates to declare before Saturday’s nomination of 14GE candidates that they want full investigations into the 1MDB causing Malaysia to become a global kleptocracy and a rogue democracy

Nomination for parliamentary and state assembly candidates for the 14th General Elections is 36 hours away on Saturday.

There are 222 parliamentary constituencies and some 500 State Assembly Constituencies in the states in Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah up for election on May 9, 2017.

I want to challenge the 730-odd BN parliamentary and state assembly candidates to declare before Nomination on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at 9 a.m. that they want full investigations into the international 1MDB money-laundering scandal, which spans the globe, causing Malaysia the ignominy, infamy and iniquity of a global kleptocray. I will sue Najib if he dares to accuse me of being anti-Malay and anti-Islam

Why is the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak playing up the spectre of the “Chinese peril” despite the community’s population having steadily declined over the years?

In 1957, Malaya’s population comprised 49.8% Malays, 37.2% Chinese, 11.1% Indians and 2% Others.

In 1970 Malaysia’s population comprised 44.32% Malays, 34.34% Chinese, 8.99% Indians, 11.89% non-Malay Bumiputeras, 0.67% others.

In 2010, the percentage of Malays in the Malaysian population increased to 55.07%, Chinese reduced to 24.34%, Indians dropped to 7.35%, non-Malay Bumiputeras maintained at 11.94% and 1.3% others. Read the rest of this entry »

Najib should set a good example of clean and honest politics instead of being the chief exponent of politics of fear, race and lies as Malays will continue to exercise political power in Malaysia whether UMNO is defeated in 14GE or not

The Prime Minister and UMNO President, Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s fall-back to the politics of race, fear and lies in Lipis yesterday is an indication of his growing desperation that UMNO will be ousted from Putrajaya by a Malay tsunami in the 14GE with the election of a new Pakatan Harapan Federal Government with Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad as the seventh Prime Minister and Datuk Seri Dr. Wan Azizah Wan Ismail as the Deputy Prime Minister – with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the eighth Prime Minister of Malaysia.

In Lipis yesterday, Najib claimed that under the Pakatan Harapan, “absolute power rests in the hands of DAP”, portraying the 14th General Election as a fight between UMNO-led Barisan Nasional and DAP-led Pakatan Harapan.

Najib knows in his heart of hearts that what he said that “absolute power rests in the hands of DAP” or that Pakatan Harapan is “DAP-led” are not true, and that Pakatan Harapan operates on the principle of genuine consensus of the four component parties unlike Barisan Nasional where, to borrow the language of Tan Sri Shahrir Samad, what UMNO wants UMNO gets and what UMNO wants UMNO takes. The view that Iskandar Puteri is a “sure win” is as mistaken as the view in 2013 that Gelang Patah was a “sure lose” contest

Seven parliamentary constituencies will be the first-line “star” constituencies in the battle of Save Malaysia to Set Malaysia Free from UMNO/BN misrule, corruption, abuses of power, injustices and exploitation.

They are Ayer Hitam, Teluk Intan, and Stampin (where Johore, Perak and Sarawak DAP State Chairman respectively, i.e. Liew Chin Tong, Nga Kor Ming and Chong Chieng Jen have left comparatively safe seats to contest in high-risk constituencies to spark a Malaysian Tsunami to oust UMNO/BN from Putrajaya for the first time in 61 years), Seremban (where DAP National Organising Secretary and Negri Sembilan State Chairman Anthony Loke has refused to relocate to safer seat but to stay put in Seremban although it has become a very risky seat as result of the gerrymandering in the constituency redelineation), Langkawai (where Tun Mahathir will contesting), Pagoh (Tan Sri Muhyiddin contesting) and Semporna (Shafie Apdal contesting).

The second-line “star” constituencies in the 14th General Election will include Iskandar Puteri, Jerlun (Mukhriz Mahathir), Kota Raja (Mat Sabu), Kota Baru (Husam Musa), Bentong, Labis and Kluang.

I remember when I moved from Ipoh Timor parliamentary constituency in Perak to contest in Gelang Patah in Johor in the 2013 General Election, many felt it was a foolhardy decision to move from a very safe seat to a high-risk one. Read the rest of this entry »

Two messages to 15 million voters: one, the 14GE is all about Najib as Prime Minister; and two, it is opportunity once-in-61 years to “set Malaysia free”

I want through the first Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Skudai tonight since I was announced as DAP/Pakatan Harapan candidate for Iskandar Puteri to send out two messages to the 15 million voters in Malaysia, one, that the 14th General Election is all about Datuk Seri Najib Razak as Prime Minister; and two, the 14GE is an opportunity once-in-61 years to “set Malaysia free” from UMNO/BN misrule, corruption, abuses of power, injustices and exploitation.

I was in Sarawak three days ago and I found to my shock and horror that the SUPP is campaigning on the basis that the 14th General Election has nothing to do with Najib but about Sarawak’s right to self-determination.

I am sure that in Peninsular Malaysia, the component Barisan Nasional parties like MCA, Gerakan and MIC would be arguing along the same line, that the 14th General Election is not about Najib as the Prime Minister, but other secondary or subordinate issues. Read the rest of this entry »

DAP fields first Orang Asli candidate in 52-year party history

The DAP has created a few histories with the DAP candidate line-up for parliamentary and state assembly elections for the 14th General Election on May 9, 2018.

The DAP is fielding candidates in 47 parliamentary and 105 state assembly seats totaling 152 seats, but involving 148 candidates as four DAP leaders, namely DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng, DAP Vice Chairman and Penang DAP State Chairman Chow Kon Yeow, DAP Deputy Secretary-General and Perak DAP Chairman, Nga Kor Ming and DAP National Organising Secretary and Negri Sembilan DAP State Chairman Anthony Loke, are contesting both parliamentary and state assembly seats.

For the first time in the 52-year history of DAP, an Orang Asli candidate, Nasir Dollah, will be fielded in the Galas state assembly seat in Kelantan.

List of UMNO/BN slander will be as thick as Encyclopaedia Brittanica and challenge to a Najib-Kit Siang public encounter where each could cite 5 – 10 lies, fake news and false information over the past five years the other must be held personally responsible

The Prime Minister and UMNO President Datuk Seri Najib said that today that if he were to list down the slander from the opposition since the last general election, it would be as thick as the Kamus Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka.

In a blog posting this morning, the BN chairperson noted how he and his family often fall victim to the opposition’s slander.

I have the greatest sympathy for Najib when he and his family fell victim to slander, but how could he be certain that Opposition leaders were responsible for them?

I myself have fallen victim to slander but can I hold him personally responsible?

My response to Najib blog is that if I am to list down the slander from UMNO/Barisan Nasional quarters since the last general election, it would be as thick as Encyclopaedia Brittanica, putting the Kamus Dewan to shame. Read the rest of this entry »

Najib may have the world’s most expensive strategists and propagandists but money cannot buy wisdom

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s poetic swipe at Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad illustrates that Najib have not learnt the lesson that he may have the world’s most expensive strategists and propagandists, but money cannot buy wisdom.

In a poem dedicated to his predecessor Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, Najib took a poetic swipe at his nemesis Tun Mahathir Mohamad and the Selangor Pakatan Harapan state government, while praising the loyalty of Tun Abdullah.

This is the latest example of Najib continuing to receive bad advice from his highly-paid strategists and propagandists.

The come-back had been swift and lethal, with UMNO veteran and former Minister Datuk Seri Zainuddin Maidin reminding Najib that he had betrayed Abdullah or he would not be the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia. Read the rest of this entry »
