54-Day Countdown to 13 GE – Najib should announce three ang pows at Dong Zong CNY Open House tomorrow: full recognition of UEC, approval for four Chinese Independent Secondary Schools and review of National Education Blueprint

The Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak should announce three ang pows at the Dong Zong Chinese New Year Open House tomorrow, namely:

* Full government recognition of Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) as one of the academic qualifications for entry into national higher learning institutions, public services and teaching academies;

* Government approval for four Chinese independent secondary schools in Petaling Jaya, Puchong, Segamat and Johore Baru;

* Review of the National Education Blueprint to give full recognition of mother-tongue education in the mainstream of the national education system, including:

1. Increase in the number of Chinese and Tamil primary schools dependent on the needs of parents to send their children to Chinese and Tamil primary schools in order to ensure the right of students to receive mother-tongue education; and

2. Fair and just capital allocations for development expenditures of Chinese and Tamil primary schools and the provision of adequate trained teachers; and

3. Assist Malaysian independent Chinese secondary schools in financing, teacher-training, curricula design, amenities, etc and to allow them to relocate, set up branches and put up new premises.

DAP and Pakatan Rakyat are committed to the full recognition of UEC and if Najib fails to make such an announcement tomorrow, then it will be one of the priority policy announcements of a new Pakatan Rakyat government in Putrajaya after the 13GE.

It will be a great disappointment and just not good enough if the Prime Minister comes to the Dong Zong CNY Open House with promises of recognition or agreement in principle to recognize the UEC, when the UEC is recognised world-wide as of high academic standards for all educational and employment purposes.

Malaysians will be very wary of such announcements after the infamous Su Qiu fiasco three general elections ago, where the Cabinet agreed “in principle” before the 1999 general election to the 83-point Su Qui Appeals, but which was disowned by the then Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Mahathir Mohamad, who after the general elections accused the Su Qiu supporters of wanting to cause racial disunity and “not much different from the communists or Al-Maunah”.

A racial confrontation was engineered after the 1999 General Elections when Mahathir alleged that the Cabinet was forced to accept Su Qui “in principle” and that UMNO/BN were “threatened then as elections were just round the corner”.

Mahathir said: “That’s why they came up with the memorandum, as a threat to the Barisan Nasional, and that if we didn’t entertain their request they would tell the Chinese not to support us. This was deliberate and the timing was well-planned. What could we do then?”

In the confrontation, the Suqiu or Malaysian Chinese Organisations Election Appeals Committee were pressured to withdraw seven of the Suqiu Appeals.

In fact, in his appearance at the Dong Zong CNY Open House tomorrow, Najib should apologise for the hypocrisy and insincerity of the Barisan Nasional Cabinet agreement “in principle” of the 83-point Suqiu Appeals on Sept. 22, 1999, but which UMNO and all the Barisan Nasional component parties, including MCA, Gerakan and SUPP reneged after the 1999 general elections.

What assurance can Najib give that there would be repetition of the Su Qiu fiascos in future?

Najib talks about democracy in education – hello, let’s call a spade a spade. After all these years as MB, Ministers of various portfolios, DPM and PM celup, now tell me – what does Najib know about education????

Najib and UMNO would rather the malays and Malaysians remain uneducated so that BN can lord it over an illiterate masses.

Bodoh punya UMNO. Jaga anak sendiri saje!Kan bodoh.

“I will consider, I will look into it just like I’m considering awarding Han Chiang school a University permit”.
Ask Najib anything now & he will promise the sky in the hope of fishing some “ignorant” Chinese & Indians votes.

From a manager’s point of view, its horrible to watch Najib do what he does. His strategy particularly with the Chinese voter has not worked EVEN from day 1. Yet he continues to do the same thing over and over again even down to the eleventh hour. In fact its remarkable to watch how exhaustingly he continues JUST to pretend.

For most of us, we would be long gone from our job but Najib not only get to keep his job, he gets more and more to do it with even more praises heaped on him even as he is falling apart.

Does it matters what is promised?
Even if the promises can be fulfilled this time, what is there to prevent them from being reversed later?
Also, aren’t there far too many unforgivable baggage to be looked into when PR takes over Putrajaya?
Besides corruption, scams and scandals, there are even traitorous acts?
There must be one aim and one mantra for all Malaysians.
And that is to boot out UMNO/BN in the next GE!
Nothing short of that will do!!!!!

So don’t be overly elated if the PM really announces the three ang pows at the Dong Zong CNY Open House. Even if the Government don’t disown or renege on their promises later on, they may still procrastinate on their implementation. Many of the Government’s promises, especially with regard to Chinese education, take over 10 years to materialize.

Mamakthir knew that having cheated he could not have won the next election after 1999. AAB got the best ever results in 2004 election because he showed that he was not Mamakthir’s puppet. Of course the son-in-law of AAB thought that he could follow Mamakthir to climb UMNO ladders with racism which led to other UMNO opportunists fighting to out racist one another resulting in BN losing badly in 2008 election. Najib shows that he serves during the pleasure of Mamakthir. Hence there is no way Chinese would ever vote BN again except for those who are not Chinese in character. Najib told Indian Muslims that he might consider making Indian Muslims bumiputras. One wonders how many of them have not followed Mamakthir severing their roots.

Najib claimed that Chinese benefited from BN governance. Well, Najib thinks that he had the right to limit how successful Chinese should be in Malaysia. That is why UMNO introduced all kinds of obstacles to prevent Chinese reaching what they are capable of in a free and fair environment. Najib certainly left unsaid the that it could be worse for Chinese. Chinese still remember that Najib wanted his kris to soak Chinese blood. He wore red shirt during the Chinese New Year recently, to look like he is not against Chinese. He should have apologized for the statement he made in 1987, just before Mamakthir started operation Lallang. Did Mamakthir make him utter those words so that Mamakthir could invoke ISA?

Rakyat n voters, DON’T b STUPID n believe dat NR n UmnoB can change their racist DNA n policies

Just look at dis: “Najib told Indian Muslims that he might consider making Indian Muslims bumiputras
Does dis mean good news 2 Indian Muslims? What is d REAL mesej here?
If Indian Muslims applaud n cheer dis announcement, they r pathetic!!
Dis is TRULY an EXTREME RACIST policy n a VERY SAD announcemnt, amounting 2 official ETHNIC CLEANSING, erasing Indian Muslims fr racist UmnoB/BN controlled M’sia

If NR n UmnoB TRULY LOVE M’sia n M’sians n embrace DIVERSITY as they in recent months claimed wildly just 2 fish 4 votes, they should not go around offering/baiting Indian Muslims (mayb later Chinese Muslims, Martian Muslims, etc) 2 b Bumiputras

    Y can’t NR n UmnoB embrace diversity among all M’sians? Y pretend 2 dress up like a Chinese during LNY or like an Indian n b4 GE13 when they r hell-bent 2 erase non-Bumiputra grps fr M’sia?

” Full government recognition of Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) as one of the academic qualifications for entry into national higher learning institutions, public services and teaching academies;”

I totally agree with this statement. When I was working abroad I have received job applications from top class honours graduates from Singapore’s world class universities who had admitted these students based on their UEC qualifications. If these universities, which far outrank any Malaysian universities in world ranking indices, can accept these qualifications I fail to see why Malaysian universities cannot do likewise. I think we all know the real reason why they are still denied entry.

Najib says the Chinese owe their success to BN. Look around all the countries that they say are worst off – around ASEAN, even in Africa, India – the Chinese are successful there too. So how?

  21. #21 by boh-liao on Sunday, 17 February 2013 - 1:41 pm

Dressing in Chinese or Indian garments, beating Chinese or Indian drums, writing a bit of Chinese or Tamil, greeting ppl in Chinese n Tamil language – all these play play SHOWS do not make NR n UmnoB magnanimous, open-minded n non-racist

They, like d evil MMK, still believe in ketuanan Melayu n Bumiputra first policies

Actually, if they r sincere, NO NEED 2 wayang like what they r acting now 4 show
Just CHANGE/TRANSFORM exisiting Malay-Bumiputra first policies, treat all M’sians as equal so dat all can work together as a united ppl for the benefits of d nation, n help all poor M’sians, irrespective of racial or ethnic origin

What positive things had NR done since chosen by UmnoB 2 b peeM? NOTHING! Many issues remain unresolved n swept under d carpet (even a carpet trader is mocking him n his char bor)

He n his char bor dare not even seek justice 2 clarify their alleged sins

He still insists on inviting some corrupt, seeking-easy-wealth nonMalays 2 sell their ancestry n join him n UmnoB 2 b their cronies 2 grab some crumbs n enrich themselves, with some fanciful titles thrown in

Meanwhile, rakyat still hv tremendous difficulty in explaining 2 their children n grand-children Y nonMalays hv 2 subsidize rich Malays buying houses worth RM millions, Y competent nonMalays cannot hold positions reserved 4 Malays, etc etc etc …….

Obviously in Bernama report http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v6/newsgeneral.php?id=928463 on Najib’s attendance at the Dong Zong CNY open house, there would be mention of the familiar names of those obsequious eunuchs and the various patronising acts like ‘laoshang’ and Chinese calligraphy. Angpows or no angpows this is nothing more than just plain and simple ampubodekism personified. Repeatedly, such ‘give-face’ acts always seem to take place just before an election.

Lest we forget and start making incessant puerile proclaimations like this is the first PM to attend Dong Zong open house in 59 years and that such attendance shows his sincerity, we must keep it clear in our minds like what Loh in his #16 comment said. I will say it again. This man wearing a red Chinese shirt in the ‘BN Lau Psy’ decacle a few days ago is the same man who in 1987 was baying for the blood of a certain group of his Malaysian brethrens – brethrens who his incorrigible predeccesor claimed to have been undeservedly given citizenship by Tunku.
