“Free MP Teresa Kok Parliamentary Caucus” formed

The “Free MP Teresa Parliamentary Caucus” was formed in Parliament this evening with the support MPs of the three Pakatan Rakyat parties and the just-resigned Minister for Prime Minister’s Department, Senator Datuk Zaid Ibrahim.

The Caucus’ immediate agenda includes:

• Seek the support of Parliamentarians in ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA), Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) and Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) for the immediate and unconditional release of MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok from Internal Security Act (ISA).

• A meeting with the Deputy Inspector-General of Police on Teresa Kok’s detention and her condition of incarceration and health concerns.

• Visit of Teresa Kok.

• Motion for urgent debate on Teresa’s ISA detention when Parliament reconvenes on October 13, 2008.

Although the release of Teresa Kok from ISA detention is the immediate objective for the setting up of the caucus, MPs who attended its inaugural meeting are agreed that the Caucus should also work for the releasse of Raja Petra Kamarauddin, the Hindraf Five and all other ISA detainees as well as for the repeal of the detention-without-trial ISA.

It is timely for all, not only PR MPs but hopefully the BN MPs who are equally against this injustice to also join this caucus.

For BN MPs – Don’t let your ‘Boss’ or his assistant bother you. Stand for what is right – like Zaid & let the rakyat support you. Your future is determined by the rakyat, not your ‘Boss’ or ‘Future Boss’.

Lets hold hands together for this caucus regardless of your political belongings.

    Mr Smith,
BN component party member especially MCA,MIC & Gerakan do not have the guts to stand up on their rights.
I do not respect Gerakan. Here you have a photograph of the acting president being torn apart and stepped on & the best Dr Koh can say is ‘this is a step in the right direction’.I wonder did he mean ‘lucky they didn’t step straight to the nose’
What are you doing here.BN do not respect & welcome you anymore. If you are not welcome then leave and stay independent like SAPP.They have the courage. The rest don’t.

I am disappointed that none of MCA and Gerakan’s MPs attended the anti-ISA parliamentary caucus to free Teresa Kok this afternoon.

MCA and Gerakan are only good at talking and impressing people with their anti-ISA comments in the main stream media, but quick to shy away from taking real actions – presumably for fear of being punished by their “big brother” i.e. UMNO in BN.

I am pleased that Zaid Ibrahim – the only BN representative – was at the caucus.

It is far more complicated than labelling MCA, MIC and Gerakan as cowards for not attending the caucus. Traditionally, there has been a thick line separating ruling coalition and opposition party. This does not allow any BN members to cross over the line to attend the function organized by the opposition.

The BN way is to compromise and discuss issues internally. I assume that the party leaders are currently working hard, in the progress to talk with the BN big brother partner to discuss the issue. We have no visibility of the internal discussion if there is any, the party members are usually not allowed to issue public statements, especially at times like this.

I suggest BN to have their own caucus formed, to free Teresa, RPK, Hindraf 5 and other detainees.

DSAI is a threat to the country’s economy + sucurity, say Bodowi. ISA may be used on him.

MCA only knows how to talk to show they are still alive but as for real action, these lapdogs are too cowardly.

There’s a very high political cost to hold Teresa Kok with zero politcal benefit so I wonder why Bodowi is still holding her. Practically everybody knows the truth about the azan callls. How stupid can some people get?

freeing YB Kok would be an uphill task … from what that is happening this 2 days, I really think PL & Jib has got something up in the sleeves. Be very careful.

By accusing and claiming DSAI a national threat, PL had just made the justification for future ISA arrest. It’s a horror that these are coming out from him but all PR members should be extra careful.

Does the “Anwar a national threat” statement by Pak Lah foreshadow another ISA crackdown?

I hope sanity will prevail and the ISA will not be used.

Malaysians today regard the ISA as a “badge of honour.”

And Anwar, of all persons, does not need yet another badge. He has got it twice over.

The people are quite fed up with the abuse and misuse of the ISA over the last 40 years or more.

It is time to meet an argument with a better argument. If that argument cannot be so met, then it is time for that argument to be adopted and acted upon.

    God bless Malaysia …

MCA & Gerakan need new leaders? There are no more members in them left. Many have left or gave up! Like me for example. We don’t need new leaders. We need new party and it is already there… PKR, DAP or PAS.

ISA… The police cannot catch kidnappers and as a result victims are often dead when discovered… but they are very fast to catch bloggers! You see bloggers sits in front of their computers and don’t go anywhere…easy to catch.

See how easy they catch RPK and Kickdefella!

916… DSAI better move as fast as lightning before he is being hauled up under ISA. This time he may have to sit in for a good 2 years until 2010. I suggest he march to the Parliment and take over with the consent of the Agong. Better to aggresive than trying to be a gentleman. In politics it is “kill” or be “killed”. Tomorrow may be too late!

Portfolio change… Just an eyewash and nothing more to it! Can we all see the reason? The bunch of bargers are the same… Badawi & Najib. If both of them cannot contribute and pool resources to govern whatever ministries they are in, can giving Najib the Finance ministry change anything? Nothing changes if you put 2 monkeys in charge of bananas.

FDIs… Get MITI to show who invested, how much, where and when. No need to talk onelah.

Economy of Malaysia… Ham Kar Chan…is my summary.

Politics and future of Malaysia… It will shake and shake and shake before it gets any better. My bet… next 4 years and the situation would be worse than now unless something drastic happens.

    My future…? May die tonight!

    Dear All,

The quick setting up of this caucus is a step in the right direction but the question in front of us is whether or not it wield the clout which are badly needed to institute the action plan(s) drawn up by the caucus itself. While the caucus could move forward demanding the government for the many issues that warrant its establishment just now, it is the right of the government whether or not to listen. For example, meeting the DGP and demanding the release of ISA detainees would be a step in the wrong direction as the decision lies somewhere else or in someone else’s hand.

The incumbent, as in this case, the BN government would do everything in its hands to further consolidate itself and place an iron curtain against the opposition. If we care to look further, the government has already setting quick political footwork towards this direction. The resignation of Zaid Ibrahim is yet another example that there are too many powerful individuals unwilling to change, and this include the person who first shouted the change slogan. The only changes that would come is they change just for the sake to save their own skins.

As Kalimullah has rightly pointed out, the sweet smell of power is too strong that it could even overpower human’s principles.

  27. #27 by yhsiew on Wednesday, 17 September 2008 - 9:18 pm

Incumbent MCA MPs, such as Ong Ka Ting, Ong Tee Kiat and Ng Yen Yen, didn’t even have the guts to mention Teresa Kok and RPK’s names in their anti-ISA comments ( check Chinese website: http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/89804 ), how you expect them to attend the caucus??!! Their anti-ISA comments only applied to Sin Chew’s reporter Ms Tan Hoon Cheng.

On the contrary non-incumbent MCA members, Chua Soi Lek and Chua Jui Meng, were more daring; they urged the government to release Teresa Kok and RPK. I have more respect for the two Chua’s than the other MCA members mentioned above.

This obnoxious piece of legislation was not even drafted by the Malaysian Parliament. Correct me if I am wrong. At that time of desperate circumstances, the ISA was specifically introduced in order to meet the Communist threat. It was never intended to be used on ordinary civilians. However the British failed to repel this law and the Alliance Party, and later on the BN conveniently carried it on up to this present day.

The Communist threat had long ago been overcome yet the state of Emergency is still not been officially declared over. This is a negligence on the part of the BN to use the ISA on the population. ISA is only meant for external threat and not to be used on ordinary citizens. ISA is AGAINST the sovereignty of the people of Malaysia.

But over the years the objectives of the ISA has veered drastically off course to the ridiculous. Now it is been used to imprison citizens who had not done any harm to the security of the country. These people are only perceived by the ruling party to be hurting their interests and survival. The real culprits are left off the hook.

In today’s report by Malaysiakini : Another round of ISA for Anwar?
    • Sep 17, 08 3:03pm

“He has become a threat to the economy and possibly (national) security,’ warned Abdullah – an accusation that could allow the government to detain Anwar under the ISA.”

Why is Abdullah even comtemplat[ng to use the ISA on an elected MP of a recognised political party who had been building bridges for the various races and who has followed conventional parliamentary procedures to effect an ordinary change of government? Anwar’s attempt to meet him in order to carry out an orderly transition was rebuffed unceremoniously. Instead Abdullah prefers to turn this whole process into another circus. He should have accepted the challenge in the presence of the Chief Justice and other relevant officials and if Anwar cannot produce the evidence, this could only be to the great detriment to Anwar’s reputation. Why does Abdullah not think this way and instead choose to run away and play to the gallery. This is not the quality of a true leader in a parliamentary democracy.

In contrast, the right candidate to be ISAed should be Mahathir. Mahathir thinks that the PM post is his private property which he can give and take away anytime he likes. Abdullah was legally choosen to be the prime minister of Malaysia and it is the Agong who appointed Abdullah to be the PM based on confidence of the majority of MPs. Mahathir has no legal standing to insist on who he wants to be the PM. He does not even belong to any legally constituted political party, yet he is interfering in the party in which Abdullah is the President. Apart from this, he is illegally trying to force his choice by inciting seditious statements and stirring up racial issues. Without a single day passes he never ceases to undermine the position of the prime minister of Malaysia. Not only does he tread on sedition but he also challenged the authority and blessing of the Agong.

Abdullah, why not Mahathir and why are you insulting the choice of the people. Please don’t compound your first mistake on the use of the ISA. Anwar Ibrahim has not done anything wrong. He has the support of the people who want to see the dawn of a new Malaysia where all races are being treated with respect. Anwar seeks to build but Mahathir and your very own party, UMNO are trying to burn down Malaysia. Please don’t go on a rampage and plunge Malaysia into another Zimbabwe or Myanmar. Anwar Ibrahim is following the right path but Mahathir, who don’t have the mandate of the people, is going the illegal and brutish way by trying to topple you.

This is what our MPs ought to be – stand up and be counted. There is no need to play hide and seek anymore. If PR has the number, do it. If not, just concentrate your role as opposition till the next election. I think this nation can no longer afford this kind of politicking. Frankly, there are shadow plays in both sides. This country has been without an effective government for almost a year. I think it is enough. When we supported opposition during the March election, we have never expected the country will degenerate into quagmire like what we are seeing today.

Remember the Constitutional crises? On that mad and crazy days of attempted Maha-autocracy to clip the wings of the Agong and the sultans, he insulted each and every rulers with unsubstantiated dirty linens in public which were printed in the MSM. This was the mother of all seditions. The sole purpose was to abolish the monarchy and to established a Republic where he would become life President. Luckily, he did not succeed in this devious scheme but unfortunately he became more powerful. The ISA was used willy nilly. However, the sultans were greatly humilated and abused. Most probably the rulers would even be ISAed if he had wanted to.

So you see why the ISA has to go? It is an insult to the freedom of the people and also to the dignity of the monarchy.

but pakatan’s dilemma is probably the higher non-malay over malay ratio once the name list is announced, hence the need to wait a little longer, i think.

DSAI said something like ‘the list grows by the hour.’

Dear asshole@wifeejane, If Teresa Kok can go inside, why can’t other MPs. It is a risk all MPs must take if they choose to be MPs with conscience. This is what showdown is all about. Do it transparently and boldly. Honestly, if those MPs intending to cross over can’t do this little bit, they will not do much after they join PR.

every month they took our sweat, bloods and hard earned money…
nothing had been done to enrich the RAKYAT…
not only take but rob financially and rape the Constituency and laws…
as long as you’re member of UMNO, no matter how critic and racist or provocation of religion, races or national security, you may just hang up your membership for 3 years will do…

budak, We have to be a little circumspect. It is not Yong TL has stronger balls. It is because Yong TL has less to lose than MCA, Gerakan and MIC. Imagine if Yong TL is deputy CM and state Minister or MP or Federal Minister. Why do you think the Deputy President of SAPP walked out? This country is doomed.

When Malaysia went around the world to champion the cause of freedom, democracy, human rights, and whatnot, it assumes the façade of a just and humane nation.

What can be said of the country now that harmless and questioning ( read: bright and right thinking ) civilians are incarcerated using an obsolete, self-serving and selectively biased piece of legislation?

Mirror, mirror on the world, who is doing what’s uncalled-for?

It is indeed a sad day for Malaysia.

“A nation, a beacon, a few decades ago,

    Ruined by greed and callousness,

Wanton deeds, heedless leads, disfigured ego,

    Ruthless bids, amidst senselessness,

A nation aggrieved, a people hurt,

    No sight of wisdom still,

    An appeal to Providence,

    Sense and sensibility to prevail.”

Abdullah is feeling insecure, his deputy has been the defense minister for ages and he fear a coup de tat, you know like father like son. So he ordered his deputy to look after the bank, his deputy, being who he is of course is delighted, until he found out Abdullah is holding both the keys now, of the safe and also the tank. Will his deputy be the Prime Minister, maybe, but he may be only Abdullah’s Prime Minister.

The power struggle has come to a dangerous level in Malaysia. While Pakatan Rakyat struggling to prove their majority, the ruling party is willing to do everything in their ability to prevent from losing their control.

I afraid if PR fails in its attempt in the next couple of days the fate of Teresa Kok and RPK could be more uncertain. Not only that, even Anwar risks himself being arrested under ISA.

    Hi Uncle Lim,

I am somewhat disappointed with the fact that none of the BN MPs (except Datuk Zaid Ibrahim) attended the Parliamentary Caucus to Free Teresa Kok. The absence of BN MPs has cast a cloud of doubt on the fact that DSAI has the numbers of BN MPs crossing over to Pakatan Rakyat’s alliance.

My faith in the words of DSAI now hangs on my faith on the trust by yourself, other DAP leaders and including PAS leaderships on DSAI.

Uncle Lim has mentioned that it “does not matter 916, 1016, 1116 or 1216…”. However, it does seems to matter a lot now especially the declaration by DSAI and the letter sent to PM Abdullah on Monday (15th Sept) co-signed by DSAI, Tuan Guru DS. Hadi Awang and yourself.

The political situation in Malaysia has since been officially in “limbo” since yesterday (16th Sept. 2008). The “limbo” must be lifted in latest by DAYS and not WEEKS OR MONTHS. It is beginning to:

    (1) Distracting ordinary rakyat’s life (be it students or teachers…etc) into “Political limbo” or “Political fantasy”

    (2) Distracting fund-managers and investors who wants to invest in Malaysia

    (3) Keeping international tourists away.

    (4) Further worsen political instability

    (5) The deteriorating spirit and health of ISA Detainees be it YB Teresa Kok or Raja Petra, or others detainees.

However, on a positive note- “a quiet day” on 17th Sept. 2008 means that DSAI is working to “takeover” the government.

DSAI & other PR leaders has now officially given more than 48 hours for PM Abdullah to grant a meeting with DSAI for a smooth peaceful transition of power. Unfortunately, that has not happen.

I believe that Uncle Lim and others should have realize now that some ground supporters of Pakatan Rakyat are “agitate”.

The BN government might consider another round of “Political Hurricane of ISA” against DSAI and that will be a mighty blow on the Pakatan Rakyat’s spirit.

I again suggest that the “takeover” bid be hastened in DAYS and NOT WEEKS OR MONTHS.

“~The longer you let the thieves run lose, the harder you will be able to catch them later.~”

“~The longer you leave the cancer alone, the harder you will be able to undo the damage.~”

It seems that from all points: The longer the delay in Pakatan Rakyat taking over the leadership, the greater the detrimental effects on the Rakyat. (Remember, we are still paying alot for petrol where as the world price has drop to USD$ 94/ barrel)

Instead of (revealing the list of defectors), it would be better if all the 82 +defectors+ 2 SAPP Pakatan Rakyat MPs be physically present at the Parliament and make a Press Conference and seek an audience and approval of DYMM Yang Di-Pertuan Agong. By passing the present BN Government seems to be a logical and viable choice at the moment.

“THE MALAYSIAN MALAY” by Dr Syed Alwi of Singapore

    Dear Editor,

As you know, I am an avid watcher of Malaysian affairs. I must confess that lately, Malaysia appears to be failing. Not a day passes by without more events that clearly highlight Malaysia ‘s race-religion fault-line. If things keep going this way, I fear for Malaysia’s future.

Today, schools in Singapore celebrate Racial Harmony Day. I can
visibly see the joy in the children’s faces as they wear their ethnic
costumes and have fun together at school. But in Malaysia – even the right to choose a religion has become a sensitive, national issue.

No doubt, there are many in Malaysia who hate my liberal views on Islam, family included. But I will say what I must say openly. I have come to the conclusion that Malaysia cannot progress any further without first addressing fundamental questions regarding its identity and soul.

I remember the days when we can laugh at Lat’s cartoons on everyday Mlaysian life. But sadly, the Islamic tide has polarised Malaysians.

Some people ask why I should bother about Malaysian affairs since I am a Singaporean. May I remind Malaysians that it was Tan Siew Sin who once said that Singapore and Malaysia are Siamese Twins. Should Malaysia go down – it would hurt the region tremendously. Especially Singapore ..

Where do you think Malay apostates would head for if Lina Joy loses her case? Singapore of course! I find the Malaysian Malay to be very under-exposed. For them, it’s all Islam and the NEP and everything under the sun would sort itself out. I am sorry to say this – but Islam and the NEP may be the cause of the doing of the Malaysian Malay.

There is nothing wrong with religion or affirmative action. But, like
everything else in life, they must be taken in moderation and with a
pinch of salt. A little doubt is good. Unfortunately in Malaysia
,emotions over Islam have overcome reason. What we see today is the result of the NEP and Islamisation policies of the past thirty years or so.

No one owes Malaysian Malays a living. Let me assure you that should Malaysia fail – the Malaysian Malay will suffer enormously. And rightly so. After all they have been pampered with all sorts of
    goodies over the years.

They cannot now expect more goodies. Perhaps the day of reckoning for them, is near. Whatever it is, Malaysia had better wake up to the realities around her. The globalised world of the 21st century has no NEP to offer the Malaysian Malay. And humans cannot live by religion alone.

    Regards,

    Dr Syed Alwi

Why are our MPs so spineless? If DSAI really has the number, show it. Should the MPs be arrested or harassed after the revelation, so be it.

    **************

    Dear Lim,

    1. With respect, it seems to me the root cause to your general lament and frustration is your statement “This country has been without an effective government for almost a year.”.

    2. You seemed to be directing the bulk of the blame at (a) DSAI, or (b) the crossing over BN MPs, rather than (c) the ruling BN government/ BN MPs who chose to remain in BN. (“Why are our MPs so spineless? If DSAI really has the number, show it. Should the MPs be arrested or harassed after the revelation, so be it. “)

    3. My question is is it fair to blame 2(a) and 2(b) when the day-to-day running of the country falls squarely on 2(c)?

    4. Perhaps your lament about “Why are our MPs so spineless” should be better directed at 2(c) group, since they are the ruling government. Who chose and approve the sending of the 50 MPs to Taiwan – DSAI or 2(c)? Who chose and decided to detain RPK, Kok and Tan under ISA – DSAI or 2(c)? If you look at the entire situation properly, it is clear that the PRIMARY reason why the government is not functioning has NOTHING to do with DSAI, but is instead the full responsibility of 2(c) group. Yes, PR plays to the gallery too (e.g. sending a smaller PKR group to Taiwan to chase after possible defectors), but a properly functioning government – if they didn’t send the Group of 50+ to Taiwan first could have chosen to stay in the country. Yes, DSAI & PR held a large ceramah on 15 Sep, but so what? The final responsibility of governing or not governing the country rests squarely on the ruling government. And who decided to destabilize the financial situation in this country by changing the Minister of Finance mid-stream – DSAI or AAB?

In short, let’s not forget that no matter what DSAI or PR does in terms of politics, the act and responsibility of governing rests squarely on the ruling government and not on the Opposition.

I merely wish to point out this fundamental fact.
In short, I strongly believe that the reason our country is not being governed properly since 308 is not because of 2(a) or 2(b), but the responsibility falls squarely on the ruling government.

The ruling government would like to blame it all on DSAI. But the truth is, they haven’t done their job. And now, they want to pin the blame on DSAI by threatening to ISA him! How ludicrous!

Response by PM on SAPP leaving BN: “SAPP was just a nuisance”. After all those years of supporting BN to power, this is the attitiude & gratitude of the current UMNO President & PM from BN to another component party (well, “ex” now). In other words, all the other BN component parties are also nuisance to UMNO President. This is the attitude of UMNO. Many of the UMNO MPs did claim they don’t need all the component parties to stay in power. So, if these components do stay…what does it mean? throw a cookie…*arf*arf*arf*…good boy…now sit & guard the door…Now we know why the head of all UMNO MPs are as big as J.Lo ass.

No justification to arrest of YAB Teresa. Not to the rakyat’s eyes. But to UMNO-BN, it is a ‘warning’ to all the MPs that were planning to x-over. Datuk Botox lead the propaganda machine by putting a false claim in his blog. This is in b&w. So, when will he be summon to Bkt Aman to record his statement? Will he be punished the UMNO way ie 3 years holiday? Truly shameful. Then again, shame does not exist in these politicians. Greed, power & money overule all.

  81. #81 by Old.observer on Thursday, 18 September 2008 - 2:28 am

    Dear Lim,

Further to my post above, you also mentioned “When we supported opposition during the March election, we have never expected the country will degenerate into quagmire like what we are seeing today.”

It is only human nature and very natural to feel some regret.

However, I would like you to consider and reflect this question critically – if BN and Badawi did their job properly, could the country degenerate at all, IN SPITE of what PR say or does so long as what PR does remain within the boundaries of what’s allowed by the law and duties of being Opposition?

If you believe the Opposition is to be blamed, perhaps you would like to share a specific action which the Opposition has done that has cause this country to degenerate.

Chances are, I believe a proper and objective analysis will point to the failure of the ruling government to do their job, rather than the Opposition’s words or actions.

The Opposition – as far as I can establish – has not taken up arms like the Communists back in the 50s. The Opposition has acted within the law at all times.

If you are dissappointed with specific aspects such as the Budget 2009, then, this is not the Oppositions problem. The Budget is crafted solely by the Government.

If you are dissappointed with the DNA Bill, this is not something initiated by the Opposition – the Government has a choice and the responsibility to not table this Bill in the first place.

Let’s not blame the Opposition for doing their job.

Instead, let’s condemn the Government for NOT doing their jobs.

I don’t know how DSAI within this few weeks can be athreat to the economy of the country!

All these years BN has been governing the country. What happens to the economy, the whole world knows except the unenlightened Malaysians which have been fooled by UMNO. It is ridiculous for a PM to hold the post of Ministry of Finance as well in Malaysia. Just imagine nobody else can be trusted to hold the post of Ministry of Finance in Malaysia because of high level corruption. That is why PM has to keep the post.

When the econmy is subjected to blatant abuse, UMNO blames evrybody but itself.

    As the saying goes:

    Uncultured people blames others
    Semi-cultured people blames himself.
    Cultured people blames neither.

Change we must! Otherwise Malaysia will be another Zimbabwe in 10 to 20 years from now instead of a developed country.

    ==============================================

Thanks AsalUsuLMalaysia and for this write up Dr Syed Alwi,

I just cannot sleep, after reading Dr Syed’s message, my heart feel so hurt. All we, the rakyat merely ask for is a chance to let our children mixed freely and without fear in this country becuase God allows us to live in peace and love one another. A father with kids feel that their freedom as a normal citizen have been raped!! How does it feel for your childrens?

The manner in which constant fear and intimidation the Goment is exhibiting, will no doubt create more ‘slaves’ instead of citizens. What level this nation is going to improved if you have slaves??!!!
Why Malaysia is not improving? Not progressing? Because the rakyat have been treated like slaves!! And as slaves, you don’t go looking for more work and you just wait for the next orders. Thats why we are where we are today! Are you all still not convince this far?

Ok, as slaves, the order finally came – Vision 2020!! TDM with ‘unlimited powers’ and with the freedom to dream and to be creative with imagination has put Malaysia on the world Map, for the right or wrong reasons, I leave it to you… The point Im trying to say here is,

Unless and until the rakyat’s freedom to live is not ‘policed’ and
been ‘ISAed” This country can florish 30 folds!!! Get away from this threats of treating citizens as slaves!!!

The ball is in BN’s court at this moment, Its up to you and all of us!

Its a crying shame when God has bless this country with abundance of natural resources and human talents plus a ‘Holy’ nation, did not only tapped its potential, is right now destroying what God have gave us. What have Malaysia got to show to our children? What have Malaysia got to show to the world? What have each one of us have to show to our own God? Its a sin! Have mercy on us all God. We need You right now! to show us Your way. Its your will and let your will be done! amen!

    dear mr.old.observer,

i read your rebuttal to mr.limkamput comments and would like to share my thoughts with you.

march 8th general election was a good election for the opposition parties, for the government was denied the two third majority.

the scenerio than, would have that the “ruling government ” ( like it or not ) should have been allowed to continue to govern as usual till the next general election. the five states under pr would also be allowed to be governed by the pr coalition.

however, dsai , and not lks nor nik aziz goes on the hype of 916 and the “crossover” of bn mps. this certainly would have caused bn to react and need to counter the situation. had dsai allowed the government to continue its ruling, than today , we see a different political scene.

bn certainly will react. but dsai had claimed not once but many times of the numbers he had to form the government by default of crossocer and have given the nation 916 as the due date. today is 918, raja petra is lamenting in jail , based on that expectation. and if dsai have the numbers , just get it done with. there is no need for all this jubilations and celebrations even before the eggs are hatched. 31 mps are substantial in numbers. not three nor five. certainly it is not easy to entice that numbers to reconsider their political affliations. ( taiwan or no taiwan ). dont expect bn to sit down quitely, with any actions.

the end result that after 916, doubts have been created in peoples’ mind. if dsai does not have the numbers, than it is best that the bn continue to govern till the next election. otherwise as i stated earlier, false hope is just as bad as broken promises.

the government have flawed in many ways, but they are unable to rule with this daily numbers figures of uncertainties. surely, if you care to observe, even when pr will to form the government with a simple majority of two mps, pr will ALSO not be governing, as bn will be again attempt to play the dice of numbers.

if the mps have decided on a career as politicians, it comes with the perks and the risks of it all. the mps, as mr.limkamput had expressed should be ” dare to bare ” and not hide in silence for the raayat to guess. this is not healthy for the nation at all.

the other option available, if the mps are enjoying the perks but fear the risks, it is than that all this hype of 916, should have been in total silence and not even announced . this would have spare the nation an anti climax. the onus now is on dsai to show it or to keep silent and let the government govern till the next election.

lks, has avoided this date recently and even pas is adamant that 916 will not happened. SO EITHER DSAI BEHAVE AS AN OPPOSITION LEADER , AND FORGET ABOUT THE CROSSOVER HYPE, OR PROVE IT TO THE NATION. please note the nation is suffering from overdoses of politics.

one jt84 had called “state of limbo”. and he is quite right.
either do it or drop it.

    Greetings!

To me, the police have lost their credibility and respect from all. Nor they’ve keep their morale as well as principle due to the very bad government who often make use of them.

So, arrest is expected and they can catch ten, hundred and thousand… but not all of us. Besides, what so good than the police squatter provide FREE food and shelter.

In addition to what Adam has said. I just want to add that I am not blaming BN or PR leadership per se. Ultimately, it is us and our MPs. I think I have written somewhere that we have lousy politicians and stupid Malaysians. We the people must demand that our MPs are not bloody chattels or prostitutes. They must have the tenacity and personality to stand up and be counted on what they believe is good for the country. Why conducting their affairs as if they are indulging in an illicit affairs? No body can treat our MPs like chattels or prostitutes if they are not, got it old guy?

I think we’ve inherited the British Parlimentary System, a system for which the citizenry of this country is ill equiped to deal with.To start with the democratic tradition is never steeped in the upbringing of the Asian family, in fact unquestioned respect to authority is instilled right from young.
If one cares to look across the globe there is almost no former colonies of the Dutch,Spanish,French or British that has fared well after independence.Instead tribalism and religious fanatism is the order of the day.The degeneration of the state of affairs in Malaysia today does not come as a surprise,in fact all the ingredients of the kind of strive we witness in the African states are there in the country.

The way things are happening in Malaysia now, very soon we need to form a new caucus: “Free MP Anwar Ibrahim Parliamentary Caucus”.

AAB had openly declared that AI is a national threat and liability, spreading lies everywhere. The vicious ISA dragnet is widening by the hours.

I think it would be a fatal mistake for BN to use the ISA on DSAI!

    Dear ADAM YONG IBNI ABDULLAH,

In response to your long comments Today at 05: 16.29 (12 hours ago)

You’ve made many points in your reply which I find myself agreeing in some parts and disagreeing in other parts. And I don’t wish to comment on ALL the points made, else, we’ll be here forever.

However, my own fundamental belief is that when one is a government, one has responsibilities that one needs to fulfil and cannot blame the Opposition if they are unable to perform their duties. Having DSAI claiming that he has the numbers should not deter the Government from fulfilling that responsibility.

My ideal or benchmark is for example in the more mature democratic countries such as US, UK or Australia. If any one of the Opposition members there had claimed that they had a majority, would the governments there reacted in the same way as the governments here has? Ask yourself sincerely whether our government has responded in a professional manner, and whether DSAI is to blamed to the extent that was implied. He is the opposition – a vocal one – a charismatic one – one who dares to paint a picture bigger than anyone of us dare to imagine … but at the end of the day, he is not the government.

So, when we review in general what a person has done over a period of time (your comments covered 308 to today), reality is extremely complex, and we are bound to focus on / have various perspective. My own feeling is that regardless of our individual perspectives, it is important that Rakyat demands that our government continues to govern in a responsible manner, notwitstanding what DSAI did or what someone else did.

You quote: “however, dsai , and not lks nor nik aziz goes on the hype of 916 and the “crossover” of bn mps.” — well it’s obvious LKS and NA supported 916 fully and publicly prior to 916. DSAI was clearly the champion of 916, and for something mammoth like this, it needs a champion to make it possible. I personally don’t have major issues with any of the 3 leaders.

You quote: “… this certainly would have caused bn to react and need to counter the situation.” — my own view is that for every action or statement made by DSAI, the BN government always have many options to respond. I would personally rate BN’s response as a general “D” in many instances. They could have responded using better methods with an “A” or a “B” grading perhaps. I’m sure if we were to raise specific instances, that you can think of many better ways in which the BN government could have responded better.

You quote: “the government have flawed in many ways, but they are unable to rule with this daily numbers figures of uncertainties.” — personally, I disagree with the latter. Yes, I appreciate it is difficult to deal with DSAI, but not completely impossible when the government controls the newspapers and MSM, the Police, the Judiciary, the Budgets, the Expenditures, etc. etc. etc. It should be obvious the government could have done a much better job.

You quote: “raja petra is lamenting in jail , based on that expectation.” — personally, I’m not quite sure what you are implying. To me, RPK is an adult. He knows fully well what he was in for when he set up the MT website, and when he wrote his MT articles. I sincerely doubt RPK blames DSAI at all for his championing of 916.

You quote: “there is no need for all this jubilations and celebrations even before the eggs are hatched.” — here, I don’t quite understand what you had in mind when you mentioned “jubilations and celebrations”. Certainly DSAI’s ceramahs are captivating and can become passionate with cries of “Reformasi”, but this is not necessarily “jubilations and celebrations”. We know this is not a reality yet. Perhaps just different perspectives.

    Anyway, I’ve got to run.
