“Standing ovation” for Abdullah’s retirement announcement

The announcement today by the Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi that he would hand over the Umno leadership and premiership to Najib Razak in June 2010 was given a standing ovation at the meeting of Umno division and branch leaders.

What was the “standing ovation” for?

What was the “standing ovation” for?

For being brave to call it a day, i suppose Or before he has to be kicked out in disgrace? Whatever, his deputy is no better, the Mr Cool who has yet to clear his image (has he got an image, or dark shadow, by the way?)

AAB said the accusation that Nj was involved in Altantuya’s case would not affect the transfer of power. I think that may be true procedure-wise but would the rakyat feel “comfortable” with it??!!

So, he need more time than TDM to prepare for retirement. TDM need 16 months, he need 23 months. In private sector, if one is an employee, one can never tell the boss, one want to retire in 23 months! IMHO, far too long time! 6 to 9 months is acceptable.

june 2010 ? provided he can last that long…

  6. #6 by yhsiew on Thursday, 10 July 2008 - 10:44 pm

I think if Nj were to become the country’s no. 1, most people will feel “uneasy” because of the many accusations that link him to Altantuya’s case.

    The “standing ovation” means:

He knows Najib and Rosmah cannot last another 23 months.

But whether AAB himself lasts another winter is to be seen.

Zainon Ahmad, political editor with a Malaysian newspaper, said Najib was expected to allow market forces to have a freer hand in Malaysia’s economy.

“He is a more liberal person if left on his own,” Zainon said. “He’ll be more egalitarian in his views of the economy. He’ll be more committed towards pulling away from the New Economic Policy (NEP).”

    —————————————————————–
Only a fool will believe what Zainon said. Would Najis’ pursuit of “ketuanan Melayu” and “kedaulatan Melayu” make him more egalitarian and more committed to dismantling the NEP??!!

this country is going to the dogs. its beyond redemption:
    1. 90% PSD scholarships to bumi
    2. najis and pdrm are above the law and are getting away with murder
    3. Ag and judiciary are corrupted to the core
    4. if opposition takes over the government, the army will be ordered take over the country under emergency rule just because opposition government has more non-malays than malays. what kind of HP6 mentality.
    5. Dr Noor of BTN making seditious statement and promoting racial hatred
    6. non-malay bodies are still snatched by muslim religious bodies
    7. seven state muslim agencies intervening in the case filed by Herald
the above shows that all institutions are corrupted and controlled by bigots; discrimination and marginalisation are blatantly practiced by umno/malays against nonmalays; there is no religious freedom; there is no sincerity by the majority; the country is islamised and going backwards with even muslim woman not allowed to wear high heels and make-up; very soon all muslim woman will be like in saudi arabia and nonmalays will have no voice and rights will be suppressed. to cut the story short, eventaully malaysia will end up like zimbabwe when its governed by some racist and religious bigots and morons. look, which islamic country can handle democracy? no islamic country in the world can handle democracy and thats why islamic countries are backward and too preoccupied with anarchy. only modernity, meritocracy, free from corruption, religious freedom and democracy can save this country.

I’d rather there be some healthy competition in UMNO to replace AAB. I guess Malaysian politics, both in BN and PR are not to that level yet. Accusation on Najib is just that.. accusations. I am not a fan of Najib but he deserves what every Malaysian is entitled to: the right of innocence till proven guilty.

bystander, your view of `modernity’ might be different and I respect that. But at the end of the day, the majority in any country will primarily determine how a country moves forward. The important thing is for all, those in the majority and the minorities, irrespective of race and religion to have their rights and hopefully be part of the country’s move forward. This is the fact all over the world.

    Uncle Kit,

Though you have not mentioned it can I comment on the no-confidence debate measure that the opposition coalition put up today.

Why do this if there is not even a vote for it?

There is a lot to be done to strenghten Pakatan Rakyat. You have set up a CWC, there should be a common agenda set up (I know you have said you will abide by your respective election manifesto’s) but there is a lot more of flesh to be added at the CWC level in pakatan rakyat (it is common for coalitions, once a colation has been agreed to after elections, to actually sit down and hammer out a common manifesto and what you are going to do as a government/state government together). The Pakatan Rakyat coalition has been remarkably disciplined but this seems to be slipping. Some of the noises coming out ot some of the coalition partners are not encouraging.

The public perception of the DAP is as part of the Pakatan Rakyat coalition. They see you as one entity just as they see BN as one entity even though they have 14 different parties there. Therefore DAP will sink and swim with Pakatan Rakyat. Your hands are tied. If you leave Pakatan Rakyat, you will lose a historical opportunity and probably severely damage opposition politics in Malaysia (for the near future). Therefore you have a responsibility to reign in some of the coalition partners actions since you are all in it together and will sink and swim together and that is how the public perceives you. I think this is something that needs to be understood and agreed at the Pakatan Rakyat CWC level. Right now you have all these parties saying too many contradictory things. Things like the logging issue in Kedah affecting Penang should have been brought to the Pakatan Rakyat CWC to be resolved throught a working committee rather than through the media. Some kind of working framework and discipline needs to be established. And things like this debate on a no-confidence motion should be reigned in, do things like this when it matters and people know something is at stake. If you do too many things like this, too many times, people will tune out. There are only so many thimes you can cry wolf. You will lose credibilty as a coalition and as a party. You need to move away from this changing the federal government to governing what you have, the media needs to move to that narrative as well. Change the federal govt if you can. But if you can’t, move on.

Right now the media is focusing on the national parliament and the more sensational motions and events. The media narrative is with the opposition at the moment but it is changing. You have through this blog and also by the fact that the media is clamouring for more info to debate more substantive issues in parliament more to the long term interest of malaysia and also to highlight these issues to the media. Reading the papers, all is get are things like “Skirt length becomes an issue in Parliament”. Come on, please understand there may be issues involved in the above but too much of headlines like that will make people wonder, is that all you do, bring things like that up when people are facing economic hardship and malaysia is not structurally able to handle globalisation as important as they may be. I understood a lot of motions don’t see the light of day but an intelligent plan/media strategy needs to be established so that substantive things are highlighted and the public perceives yourselves as a responsible coalition. Otherwise its just noise and sensationalism and that will just turn people off after a while.

I say these things Uncle Lim, because media narrative and momentum are important things in the world of politics. You can lose them easily and it seems you already are losing them. You have a historic opportunity to set the political agenda for the next 5-10 years. You don’t have to be in the federal government to set the agenda, or set the terms of the debate, the govt is already reacting to you, rather than trying to set the agenda, so you need to push on by concentrating on what you can do at the state level govt’s you are a part off and setting the tone of the debate at the federal level.

A lot of goodwill is with Pakatan Rakyat. Don’t make it dissipate.

Two years to hand over the leadership is too long for suffering Malaysian.

Already five years wasted, none had been done. All viable projects become gabbage.

Many of those who worshiped Dr Mahathir cannot understand why Malaysians blame Mahathir for the woes of the country. I have compiled excerpts of reports which were published in the media in past years to refresh the memories of Malaysians, as to why many Malaysians feel that Mahathir did more bad than good for the country in his 22 years.

These 22 fiascos were published in the form of questions directed to Mahathir:

    (1) Bakun Dam
Why did your administration take over the construction of the dam by bailing out Ekran Bhd by almost RM200 million for ‘work done’?

    (2) Bank Bumiputra
Why did you allow the mismanagement of Bank Bumiputra, to the extent that it had to be bailed out three times, costing the country a total of RM3 billion? Again, by dipping into Petronas’ funds?

    (3) Clean government
You came to power in 1981 and introduced the slogan Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah (Clean, Efficient and Trustworthy). Did you make the Anti Corruption Agency more effective and independent? Did you ensure that chief ministers and ministers not have incomes beyond their legal means? How many big guns were prosecuted for corruption offences during your tenure? What did you do to further that? What happened to Bersih, Cekap dan Amanah?

    (4) Education
Why did you allow our national school system, which is the ideal place to develop ties among young Malaysians, to become so divisive?

    (5) Forex losses
Why did your administration dabble in speculation in the international money market which ultimately cost Bank Negara almost RM9.3 billion in losses?

    (6) Heavy industries
Why did you push into heavy industries such as cement and steel in the 1980s, ignoring studies which suggested developing natural resource-based industries instead? They caused major problems and billions of ringgit in losses.

    (7) Immigration
Why did you allow hordes of people to migrate, mainly from Indonesia, in such an unregulated way that there are as many or more illegal immigrants than legal ones now, accounting for some three million or more people?

    (8) Indah Water Konsortium
Could you explain the RM1.4 billion soft loan to Indah Water Konsortium which clearly has irrecoverable losses?

    (9) InventQjaya
What was the basis of inviting Libyan-American Sadeq Mustaffa to Malaysia to set up InventQjaya Sdn Bhd and to also give him a grant of RM440 million?

    (10) Judiciary
What was your motive to take action in 1988 to remove the then Lord President and several Supreme Court judges from their positions under allegations of judicial misconduct, a move which was heavily criticised by the Bar Council and other bodies?

    (11) Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad
Why did you rescue Konsortium Perkapalan Berhad (then owned by your son Mirzan) and which had debts of RM1.7 billion using funds from Petronas?

    (12) LRT
Why did you bail out the light rail transit operators Projek Usahasama Transit Ringan Automatik Sdn Bhd (Putra) which belonged to Renong, and Sistem Transit Aliran Ringan Sdn Bhd (Star) using almost RM600 million from the EPF, which still resulted in EPF having to write off RM135 million with a share loss of RM96 million?

    (13) Malaysia Airlines
Why did your government sell MAS (private sale) to Tajuddin Ramli who had no knowledge whatsoever about running an airline? Why did your government then later bail out Tajuddin Ramli by paying RM8 per share, when the shares were trading at only RM3.60 in the open market, costing close to RM1 billion of the publics money.

    (14) North-South Expressway
Why did your administration award the North South Expressway concession to UEM (which then formed Plus) and then provide them with a loan of RM1.6 billion which was half of the tender price of RM3.2 billion?

    (15) Operasi Lallang
Why did you have to resort to this move in October 1987, when you close down four newspapers, used the Internal Security Act (ISA) to detain over 100 people and cause a wave of fear throughout the country?

    (16) Perwaja Steel
Why did your administration allow Perwaja Steel to be mismanaged resulting in RM2.9 million of the publics money being squandered?

    (17) Press freedom
Your criticism of the present government got plenty of coverage in the local media whereas during your time, criticisms against you by two former prime ministers were muted in the mainstream newspapers. Editors in Umno-linked newspapers too, were removed for not toeing the line. What did you do to advance the cause of responsible press freedom?

    (18) Privatisation
What was the justification of privatising the government medical stores to Southern Task Sdn Bhd and the resulting increase in the prices of medicines?

Why did you allow privatisation to take place in such a manner that the most profitable parts of government operations were sold away like Pos Malaysia, Telekom Malaysia and Tenaga Nasional?

Tolled roads had guaranteed toll rate increases and compensations in the event traffic projections were not met. Independent power producers (IPPs) had contracts that guaranteed them profits at the expense of Tenaga Nasional.

    (19) Proton
You went ahead with the national car project in 1983 despite a number of experts disagreeing with you, especially with respect to the lack of economies of scale.

Isn’t it true that Proton’s profits over the past 20 years came from the vastly higher prices that the Malaysian public has had to pay to subsidise Proton, resulting in considerable hardship for Malaysians who need cars because of the poor public transport system?

Why was it necessary for Proton to buy a stake in a failed Italian motorcycle manufacturer when it could not even produce cars competitively?

    (20) PSC Industries Berhad
Why did your administration in 1998 award a RM24.3 billion contract to PSC Industries Berhad, together with an advance of more than RM2.5 billion to build naval patrol boats?

    (21) Putrajaya
What is the justification for spending RM20 billion on a grandiose government city at a time when office space was available in Kuala Lumpur?

    (22) Time Dotcom Bhd
Did you not force the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to buy 81.6 million of the unsubscribed public portion of the initial public offering (IPO) of Time Dotcom Bhd at RM3.30 per share when the shares were trading at only between RM1.95 and RM2.10 and in the process incurring an instant loss of RM100 million?

Why did your administration bail out Time Dotcom Bhd which was saddled with a RM5 billion debt?

Why did your government use RM904 million from Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen to buy up 273.9 million of unwanted Time Dotcom Bhd shares incurring an instant loss of RM280 million?

There you are – 22 fiascos in 22 years.

The bad news is that there are actually more than 22. Remember the APs, Maminco, Renong and many more. Those who remember, please add on to this list.

The standing ovation is a show of endorsement of AAB’s continued spending the rakyat’s money. Would all these division heads who were brought all the way from their respective states not agree to attend…free makan, free this & free that.

AAB’s act of bring them here to KL is to consolidate his position in view of the Dec UMNO elections of which he is now playing a game of “buying over”; thus leading to the standing ovation. It’s a “You scratch my back, I scratch yours”. This is lewd tactics now being practised by AAB. Each time he faces a proble, he would bring all the division heads to KL. Just like the onslaught by the PR, all MPs from UMNO, and component parties were brought to KL to show solidarity or “standing ovation”.

It boils down to sheer selfishness; for his own gain to cling on to power by the pretext of finishing his job by the year 2010. It’s a bullshit game which Najis would fall for. What moronic identity both of them are!!

Besides, based on Malaysian track record, who will remember that he said this 2 years ago in 2010? Just another lip service.

  53. #53 by Jeffrey on Friday, 11 July 2008 - 7:15 am

2010 was just for Pak Lah to “buy time” for his tenure amongst those of 1000 Umno division chiefs and other grassroots leaders in favour of Najib to take over immediately.

It has all appearances of win-win between both of them.

For Najib, transition of power begins not in 2010 but effectively immediately. He showed this by breaking protocol to take the rostrum to adress audience after POM’s speech.

‘Power’, which is what politicians fight for is ephemeral, and a function of perception. Najib’s camp gave standing ovation because to them, the transfer of power is as good as done deal once such a time is confirmed. According to them, the surface appurtenances of power still vest with the premier but the baton of real exercise thereof has been pased to the deputy as “PM-elect”. The bureaucracy and hangers on (whether in political or corporate arena) would still recognise the ono numero as nominal head but power imperceptibly will slip to the PM designate as more and more hedge their bets and turn to the number two for decisions.

That is what they think. They may think wrong because a transition of two years is different substantially from two months – and anything can happen in between in light of the altantuya shaariibuu saga that continues, twisting and turning in plot and developments as time passes!

Time has always favoured and been an ally to the number 1. He waited under TDM and secured the plump position whilst the less patient number two challenged and fell on the wayside. It was also the case that TDM expected him to be a temporary caretaker for Najib to take over but today what happens, things have so changed that TDM was even on record for doubting that Najib would take over.

It is true that the PM dismissed suggestions that the allegations faced by his deputy in respect of the altantuya case would not affect “handover” but one must ask in what context he meant this. He was quoted to have said, “I think that is separate. This is a decision at a party level.” One must ask, what is “separate”?

Reading behind the lines, it means to him, there is a definite predetermined time for handover at “party level” but how extraneous developments relating to altantuya shaariibuu case would affect and bear on that equation at party level is “separate”!

So those supporting Pak Lah also gave standing ovation. They were probably thinking what a deft political move to buy time for two years during which there is sufficient time for developments to occur to change the handover equation. Pak Lah has nothing to lose. Bottomline he secure time until 2010 giving him 2 terms which is what he wanted : anthing longer is windfall and bonus.

Najib refered to the president’s position as the position as the PM. He said the premier had a big heart for “it is not easy to give up any position. What more the highest position in the land?”

Precisely for that very reason, no agreement especially relating to power and top position is ever cast in stone that the hand of ambition cannot redraw as against fresh and manifold unforeseeable developments as they occur from trime to time bearing on the power equation.

The audience of 1,000 Umno division chiefs and other grassroots leaders (from two different sides) gave a standing ovation but each side for a different reason based on what they perceived was to their advantage.

That is how a bargain is struck between opposing sides – both sides think they have the better side of it, but often only one side is right about it, and the other side, wrong, and the question is which side is right and which is wrong that only time will tell!

What we have here is two years “extra time”.

2 more years….of “negotiated tenders”, of APs, of visits to Perth, of falling asleep at the wheel, of Barang Naik decisions.

The police’s reluctance to thoroughly investigate on RPK and Bala’ statutory declarations will certainly cast a pall of gloom over Najis’ appointment as PM. At least they should charge RPK and Bala for slander if they think Najis is not involved in Altantuya’s case.

I personally think “HAND OVER the Umno leadership and premiership to somebody” is undemocratic and somehow irresponsible. AAB should open the UMNO presidency post for contest to as many UMNO members (including ordinary members) as possible. That is to ensure we have the best leadership for Malaysia.

The standing ovation only shows lack of independent and critical thinking among the Umno participants. Who in their right thinking mind applauds a lame duck leader who will still be in charge the next 2 years? Is good leadership such a scarce commodity there? Feudalism is truly well and alive in Umno [baru]. Pity the average Malaysian citizen, he is forced to put up with third world class leaders and their failed policies while the world passes them by.

The thing about making public announcement like this is that you cant quite retract it. A whole load of people who are hungry for power would immediately align their position accordingly in reliance on the announcement.

Now if the promised retirement as announced is not fulfiled, that load of people would be (putting it midly) very unhappy. And God only knows what they would do.

The more interesting question is whether Najib would succeed him.

    My guess: No.

My reason: No one who is fraught with controversies (whether true or untrue) is ever likely to be able to stand up as the leader of a nation. Psychology of the person concerned and the public impression of him would eventually eliminate his policital hope and career.

  62. #62 by Bigjoe on Friday, 11 July 2008 - 9:30 am

It boggles the critical mind the rational for this announcement and even worst the applauding. What the hell for other than to placate the dull minds?

Abdullah is just confirming we have another Hussein Onn on our hands, he can’t take the heat and is giving up.

When Hussein Onn quit, he gave us Dr. M which basically nearly destroyed everything we value long term and dear to us. Are we seeing another era just as bad with Najib coming?

I for one thing Najib is not qualified to be PM. His past scandals have been many and he will always be dogged by Altantuya unless something like an independent royal commission clears him. If he think he can overcome the doubts over him like Dr. M overcame his ultra-badge, he demonstrates only arrogance. But the biggest reason against Najib is he has lousy track record as far as being a minister and leader. None of his policies and ideas are any good. He is good at buying over key people, not much else. Its not a skill we need to lead us out of our troubles.

Pak Lah wants another two years to prepare for the successors. He knows that it’s useless to just resign and hand-over the country to the next PM. There’s A LOT needs to be done before the the switch of power.
I don’t think Pak Lah is the type that’s ‘gila-kuasa’. He knows that he’s old and most of the things that he has implemented are ‘software’-modal insan, rather than ‘hardware’-the type that we can see.. of course it takes time for us to see the end result.

Two years, is it too long? Nope, if you’re referring to Malaysia ‘Boleh’ land culture.

Please don’t compare to the others global nation/country as they have more efficient system and caliber people rules their land. Sometimes, they called it business tolerances.

Just have a close look at our neighborhoods infrastructure under “Satu lagi projek BN”; it’s not difficult to notice that it took year and years to complete or idling for years just like the claim.

In short, Pak Lah, he has plenty of sweet time to continue his incomplete mission if PR failed to pull him down.

After the agreement, Najis was assured of his PM dream while AAB was assured of staying on until mid 2010 provided PR does not capture the Federal Govt before that.
Najis now supported AAB openly after the agreement being announced, before this, he just keep quiet over this, so he supported AAB only after he got the carrot first!!! very cunning guy indeed!!!
All these plans will work only after the UMNO election in Dec. and AAB’s reason for staying up to 2010 is because he wanted to see all his projects going through. I wonder why he wanted to do that, cant Najis has the capability to handle all these projects??? if Najis cant handle what AAB can handle now, I think it will be a big big problem for Malaysia in the very near future if BN UMNO still in power. May be there are other reasons behind all these i.e. fear of his projects being scrapped by Najis which he did to TDM’s projects etc. or he wanted to let those people who wanted to oppose him to remember that he is still have a say over who gets the projects before he actually steps down!!!
So the market talks were correct that AAB will spend more money on projects that Rakyat wont be able to see any results (enriching his family, UMNO cronies and all his gangs) before he steps down, use up all the coffers just like the British did before handled HongKong back to China!!!
    God bless Malaysia!!!

This “standing ovation” is for the country’s greatest PM who has successfully sent up the first tourist to space, costing millions of taxpayers’ hard-earned cash. This great “Saya Pantang Dicabar” PM has also awarded 5 out of the 13 states to the opposition, a first in the country’s history. Despite his non-econs background, he has also managed to keep the country’s inflation rate at 2% (or so he claims) since 2003, the lowest in the world. Compare it to Mugabe’s 200,000,000% inflate rate for Zimbabwe, and you will see why he deserves the 2008 Nobel Prize for Economics ( the first ever to be awarded to a bummy who failed econs in university )

18 months from now, Badawi will be assessing his own report card, which will read like this:

    1. Judicial reform – fail
    2. PDRM reform – fail
    3. ACA reform – fail
    4. AG’s Chambers reform – fail
    5. Bolehland self-sufficiency – fail
    6. Development corridors – all fail

Typical of Sleepy Head, he will then ask for another 2 years. “I am still needed to complete my mission.” “I cannot walk away when my mission is not fulfilled.” “I have a strong mandate from the rakyat.”

“You need to move away from this changing the federal government to governing what you have, the media needs to move to that narrative as well. Change the federal govt if you can.” – Sans

I doubt whether you realise that our country is already as dead as the proverbial doornail? With the BN government in charge for more than fifty years!
And our PM wants another two years to step down?
Do you know with the type of policies they are practising now, we’ll be deader than a doornail?
Also, my perception of your long rambling piece is that the other components in the PR alliance, like the PKR and DAP, are not bothered or doing anything about the Islamic issues raised by PAS.
If I’m not mistaken, they do. They are as riled by them as many others. In fact, right from the very start the DAP has been very wary of PAS’ agenda but for the sake of moving ahead with the offensive against the BN, they have to make a deal with the devil. The result is the stripping away of the two-thirds majority of the BN.
I’m sure that PKR & DAP are working to bring about a moderation of the Islamic views of PAS.
Just remember that all these are not the fault of PKR or DAP. They come with the “package”.
The following piece written by you really puzzles me and I quote:
“You don’t have to be in the federal government to set the agenda, or set the terms of the debate, the govt is already reacting to you, rather than trying to set the agenda, so you need to push on by concentrating on what you can do at the state level govt’s you are a part off and setting the tone of the debate at the federal level.”
Since when did the BN government allows the opposition to “set the agenda”.
I believe that more often than not opposition PMs are told to sit down even when what they have to put up for debate is urgent and of public interests. And only recently one minister was informed by the Speaker that if he did not want to answer questions, he was free not to answer!!
I’m sure that you are not that naive not to have noticed such things!

So is AAB Forrest Gump or ‘Sifu’ of political craft??? :)

If he doesn’t forge this 18 month transition deal, he will face, come this December, a leadership challenge from Najib, Muhyiddin and Ku Li (combined) but by the deal it will be him and Najib against the rest, much easier to manage……In 2010, it is time for the next election and if the momentum from March 8th 2008 strengthens until then, not only is he out but the whole BN, so he has nothing much to lose in the deal! The only cost is to share “power” which is letting the Deputy heads a few more committees and meet heads of foreign countries as well as plan for GE 13 (that he probably has neither time nor inclination to do himself).

Net net he could get away with the debacles of March 8th political tsunamy blamed on him, the unpopular Petrol Hike and even thwarting the democratic right of UMNO members to change leaders come end of the year….

Of course the marking of transition to 2010 is supposedly to diffuse the disquiet on the ground against him though more likely the intra party leadership will more likely intensify with the deal rather than diffused. This is because the number two knows he has been ‘Badawied’ and yet, for reasons best known to him, could not do much about such a deal foisted upon him. To the incumbent at least he secured his Deputy’s in-principle support not to challenge but to support him till 2010.

It is not given to anyone to peer into the mysteries of the future but risks that can be identified like for example the likely end of year leadership challenge has to be managed by this temporary make shift agreement first. Thereafter leave it to developments as they occur from time to time and see what opportunities and advantages may be garnered to neutralise political rivals further.

In interest of political survival, he has to protect and guard one flank by deal with his deputy to take on attack from the other flank from not just UMNO warlords but also a frontal challenge from Anwar Ibrahim moving his vote of no confidence.

AAB promised to hand over something that he might not have. The position of PM might not be with UMNO comes 2010, and the Deputy would certainly be on acting capacity when the President retires.

AAB has chosen 2010 so that he would not be the shortest serving PM in Malaysian history. It shows that he cares about what is written in the history book. He would be wiser to be known as someone who ‘save’ Malaysia by reversing whatever TDM did during his term. Since whatever AAB does during the next 24 months, whether in the interest of UMNOputras or Malaysians in general he will not have any extension of his term. When the country moves on to a better footing after having made sufficient improvements to the judiciary, the police and the government services his contributions would be acknowledged even if the government falls to Pakatan in the near future. Indeed, it is when the country is made to practices rule of law with the institutions reformed for better government that opposition could have a chance to check excesses of the governement. That would be the only way BN could hope to return to power based on a two-party system. BN should realise that it was able to stay in power for so long because of the deformed institutions. They would very well serve the next government for a long long time to come.

RealWorld, AAB was not elected by the rakyat, that gutter politician did!

He thought putting this village idiot to succeed him, he would be consulted but it was not to be and the first thing AAB did was to cancel his crooked bridge!

So who says a good follower cannot be a leader? He just led everyone and everything his way!

…and leaves the way open for his co-pilot to fly the plane without being guilty of dereliction of duty. He just fell asleep ‘holding his joystick.’ That’s leadership too.
