I did not attribute corruption to the Malays, says DAP senator Ariffin Omar.

PETALING JAYA: DAP Senator Ariffin Omar today denied claims that he had attributed corruption in the civil service to the fact that the institution is dominated by one race only.

“I did not make such statement. It’s pure slander. The reason why there are more Malays in the civil service is due to the fact that they form 60% of our population.

“All I did was to suggest that the civil service offer more opportunities to non Malays to join the institution,” said Ariffin.

Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin criticised Ariffin, 63, who was alleged to have attributed the monopoly of civil service by the Malays as a source of corruption.

“It’s stupid and utterly irresponsible. When we say DAP is a racist party, the party denies it but at the same time, they accuse Malays of being most corrupt,” said Muhyiddin.

DAP protects Malay interest

Clarifying the matter, Ariffin, who is also DAP vice chairman, said that it was the government of the day that is indulging in corrupt practises, not the civil service.

“This is proven by the recent international report that said that RM871 billion in illicit money had moved out of Malaysia in the last 10 years,” he said.

Global Financial Integrity, a US-based group, placed Malaysia in third ranking of the most illicit money being siphoned out of the country. China leads the list, followed by Mexico.

Arrin also debunked Muhyiddin’s claims that DAP was a racist party, saying DAP had conducted many programmes to attract more Malays to join the party.

“Just look at Penang. DAP protects the interest of Malays by taking care of their welfare. Rest assured that once Pakatan takes federal power, the Malays will see a brighter future,” he said.

First, their MSM will report ( slant it) to provide fodder for Mooo to feed on. The government of the day will seek clarifications first or at least refrain from stirring it.
MSM, all under UMNO/bn control/influence now, since Madtir’s reign. BTW, all the country’s ills now arose from Madtir’s despotic, smarta** , own-shiok ways back then. How not to say/blame all due to him.

How can he be an education minister when he is already stupid? I wouldn’t employ him as a driver. He seems to be losing his bearings.
