16th DAP national congress crucial for party: Lim

GEORGE TOWN (Dec 14, 2012): DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has described tomorrow’s 16th DAP National Congress as crucial, “both internally and externally”, to select a new party leadership line-up, as well as begin the 100-day countdown before the 13th General Election.

He said, this time around, the selection of the leadership line-up was a record by itself, as 2,576 delegates were eligible to vote in the party’s election.

“This DAP party congress will select the new leadership for the next three years. As such, the congress is important both internally and externally.

“From the internal aspect, it is the duty of DAP members in a democratic process to choose their leaders,” he told reporters during his working visit to the Penang International Sports Arena (Pisa) here today.

Lim, who is also Penang chief minister, said there was no restriction on any media covering the two-day congress which would be held at Pisa.

“We give priority to all main mass media for coverage. But, we hope the reports will be based on truth and facts. We hope the media will give the correct coverage.

“We are not banning any media…they are allowed to cover. There is no restriction as such. This is open to all,” he said.

Themed, ‘The Power of Change’, the congress this time will see 68 candidates vying for 20 central executive committee posts. – Bernama

DAP delegates as well as all PR party leaders should be reminded that this GE really is not Everyone else Vs. Mahathir & Co. Everyone else, including Najib and Anwar is secondary. All signs really point to Mahathir being the leading figure including his legacy, his influence, his available machinery, the main block for PR to get to Putrajaya..

AND its not also not just about getting to Putrajaya, it will be also after getting into Putrajaya and staying there. From handling post-GE uncertainty, to be able to withstand the on-slaught of Mahathir & Co after they get to Putrajaya, the battle is not going to be uphill and stay up the hill for a while even long periods before the risk of losing power will go away..Those who think there is room for political scheming just better stay out of it. Political manouvering is expected but the job to be done is many and each ardous and weakness at any point in the chain is simply just selfish and betrayal of the trust and hope of so many people..

Goodluck to all 68 candidates….. vying for 20 posts.
Chin up to the 48 who will loose….it’s not the end of the world nor an end to their usefulness in the party.
Win the 13th GE is the ultimate aim.

    Well, well, well!
DAP as well as its coalition partners,
PKR and PAS have their jobs cut out
    for them.
And with the many capable, transparent,
honest, no nonsense leaders in all these
parties, there is yet hope for the country
and its long suffering, albeit befuddled
(by the Devils’ Party) citizens, for a new
    beginning, a new dawn!!!
Here’s wishing the DAP and its coalition
partners a resounding success in the
    next GE!

    Start of the final lap.
This is the point where the capable will storm ahead.
    Umno surely cant do that.
But umno definitely make it difficult for dap and pakatan.
So storm ahead and be wary of umno’s idiotic and often illegal tricks.

The DAP inability to attract more prominent Malays into its rank and file is in no small way attributed to Umno’s constant harpings that it is a chauvinist party. However, the opposite is the truth judging from the party’s manifesto in its historical standings. In fact, it has more to do with Umno’s fear of the DAP!

Nevertheless, it is the aspiration of the DAP to overcome this hurdle. Its immediate task is to groom those intellectuals, inclusive of the Malays, who have recently joined the party to the forefront of developments to undertake the responsibility to spearhead the party’s ideology and campaign in the days to come. Hopefully, one day in the not too distant future we get to see a Malay or an Indian as Secretary General to spearhead the Party.

There is no doubt that DAP need to expand its Malay membership and Malay leadership in the party..BUT what is LONG OVERDUE is the membership of Sarawakians and Sabahan that has too long confined to just urban Chinese.

It is simply PATHETIC, that only now that everybody is disillusioned with UMNO that DAP is expanding its membership with Sarawakians, Sabahan AND too slow at that…Honestly, Baru Bian should have come from DAP, not PKR.. Its a mark of shame to DAP that he is not..

DAP Sarawak and Sabah leadership should be given the ultimatum – expand everywhere to everyone or the central leadership will find people who will at any cost..

Appointments to positions of power in the DAP, as well as the PR, must be based on integrity, competence and the interests of the people and country at heart.
Race and religion are not really relevant.
The most meritorious will lead, otherwise the PR will end up like the Devils’ Party where the incompetent, corrupted and scandalous rule!!!

It is the government that fears the People.

DAP members had spoken n made their choices
I Bra Him had also spoken (most likely d mouthpiece of MMK) – asking Malays 2 read UtuM, d garbage paper, daily even while in jamban n warning Gerakan 2 behave n b slaves of UmnoB

COMPARE DAP n Perkosa in recent days – I Bra Him all colorfully dolled up n sashed up like a warrior even Hang Tuah n Hang Jebat would b proud of him (mayb I Bra Him should b Hang High High)

Oredi local msm incessantly walloping DAP, esp The Star of MCA – these days, MCA seems 2 b DAP’s keeper, criticising every move of DAP (like b a stooge of PAS, takut PAS, etc)

Koh Tsu Koon and Abdulah Bedawi are grumbling and mumbling on DAP’s Congress results….receiving more that a hundred comments firing back at them.
Nothing can these jokers do…including Ibrahim Ali will get more votes for BN.
It will be the other way round…. as voters are sick of all these side shows.
