Pua threatens to sue Najib, Nazri for Tajuddin Ramli bailout

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 14 — DAP MP Tony Pua threatened legal action against Datuk Seri Najib Razak and Datuk Seri Mohamed Nazri Aziz today, saying they would be sued for negligence if Putrajaya fails to recover the billions in debts owed by Tan Sri Tajuddin Ramli.

The Petaling Jaya Utara MP predicted the directive ordering all government-linked companies (GLC) to withdraw their suits against the former Malaysia Airlines (MAS) chairman would likely see him escaping scot-free.

“If the current Attorney-General is unwilling to consider the above action against the Prime Minister due to the complete lack of independence of the former’s office, Najib can be assured that full, open and transparent investigations will be carried out by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) government against his misdeeds should we secure victory in the next General Election,” Pua warned in a statement today.

“This is to ensure that those who have knowingly and negligently caused losses to the government’s coffers will be held accountable and will not be let off unpunished,” he added.

The DAP national publicity secretary demanded an assurance from both PM Najib and Nazri, a senior Cabinet minister, that Tajuddin would be made to settle a bulk of his debts to the GLCs and reminded them that it involved taxpayers monies.

He said if the GLCs heeded the directive and withdrew all civil suits against Tajuddin before a settlement is achieved, the companies would no longer have any avenue to claim any compensation or damages from the tycoon.

“This is because they would not be able continue with the existing suit against Tajuddin once they are withdrawn.

“At the same time, because the claims were for actions which occurred more than six years ago, the GLCs will not be able to initiate new legal actions against Tajuddin as it would be time-barred,” Pua said.

An out-of-court settlement with the GLCs, he added, would grant Tajuddin little or no incentive to settle any of his debts once the suits are withdrawn.

“This is unless of course, the intended ‘settlement’ is not with the GLCs but a clandestine ‘off-site’ solution with Najib, as suggested by the latter,” said Pua, mocking the prime minister’s explanation on the matter.

Spotlight was cast on Tajuddin and the country’s ailing flag carrier MAS after a letter penned by Nazri, a senior minister in Najib’s Cabinet, was obtained by The Malaysian Insider, revealing a directive from the administration urging all GLCs to drop its suits against the fallen tycoon.

Tajuddin is presently facing billions in legal claims against him, following accusations by MAS in 2002 that he had caused the carrier to suffer losses in excess of RM8 billion.

After his letter surfaced, Nazri defended the administration’s move, saying it would not spell a debt bailout for Tajuddin but was merely a suggestion to the GLCs to work out an out-of-court settlement with the former MAS chairman.

When responding to the matter on Friday, Najib appeared to play down the issue, describing the intervention as an “off-site” solution.

Not just TR’s case, PR must also investigates all other bailout cases or wrong deeds committed by the BN government if PR secures federal power.

with the entire judiciary under the absolute control of you-know-who, Tony Pua’s suit will be dismissed with costs.

They simply cannot afford to have the case in court.
Mahathir will be the first to go…..bringing him along a strings of his cronies.
Once in the open…it mus be headline hews in all papers…whether they like it or not.
Then more and more of their supporters will understand they are being swindled and cheated….regardless poor or rich.
This case is so huge…involving billions….and only in Malaysia…a so call..Law Minister suggests settle it out of court….when it is plain and simple…massive corruptions are involved.
And the sickening reasons he gave…

    Hi Tony,
No point suing. This is institutionalised corruption.
Use all your energy and money to win GE13. When you get to Putrajaya, throw the book at them. Your chance is much better then.

We must change the tenant at Putrajaya and GE 13 is our best chance. Failure is not an option.

So the Australians can build EIGHT NEW PATROL BOATS at AUS$330 million ( RM1,016 billion ) @ RM127 million per boat while in Malaysia six new patrol boats cost us SIX BILLION RINGGIT at RM1 BILLION per boat.

    Difference per boat = RM1,000,000,000 – RM127,000,000
    = RM873,000,000

Why such a huge difference? I bet umno is going to tell us that the malaysian boat is much, much superior in the sense that it can dive like a submarine, fly like the stealth fighter-bomber Raptor F22 and land on the moon like Apollo 11. I am so proud of malaysia!

No, no, Tony. Don’t throw the book at them. It is light and can’t cause much pain. I suggest you throw rocks at them, or better still, C4 them.

I believe the debts would be diverted to slush funds for GE 13.

BN/UMNO would need lots of money to bribe many people to stay in power.

Yeah it is time we do one on umno. So Tony, yes sue them for trillions for and on behalf of dap. Three yrs later settle the matter out of court on some undisclosed terms and claim win-win for both umno and dap. Hows dat huh?

Stupid ridiculous umno! Tajuddin’s suit is unjustified. Everyone knows that. So what is the reason to fear him? What is the reason to settle with him? Oh Oh Oh he is counter-suing us for mega amount. So we must settle the matter out of court. Is that the basis?

Ambiga said the bersih rally will be peaceful (which was in fact the case). But oh oh oh ibrahim bin perkasa and umno youth pledged violence (which is now proven to be a hollow pledge and empty threat), and so we must not allow the bersih rally to go on. Arent they the same umno wayang?

    Pegilah lu umno. Pegi mati.
