Enough is enough of Little Napoleons

By Thomas Lee

It surely comes as a big surprise that less than two weeks after the cabinet lifted the iniquitous illegal curb on non-Muslim religious clubs and societies that a Little Napoleon school head should unilaterally reject the application to set up a Chinese society in his school.

The Sin Chew Daily reported that parents of a school in Petaling Jaya are upset that its school head has rejected the application to set up a Chinese society in school.

A parent was quoted by the Sin Chew Daily that he had been fighting for the establishment of a Chinese society in his son’s school since February this year, but the school head did not give his approval even though there are Chinese language teachers willing to supervise the proposed society.

The Education Ministry has on 4 August 2010 revoked a decade-old directive compelling those who want to form non-Muslim clubs or societies in schools to first obtain its permission.

The federal government decision to revoke the directive came about following the public disclosure of several sham treatments of non-Muslim religious clubs and societies in several schools.

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang, who was at the forefront in demanding for the removal all restrictions on the non-Muslim religious clubs and societies in schools, had contended that such a policy and practice were a direct contradiction of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia initiative to foster national unity among multi-ethnic Malaysians.

Kit Siang has pointed out that the discriminative policy is against Najib’s 1 Malaysia policy and the New Economic Model objective to educate a critical, creative and innovative generation of Malaysians

“What is the use of boasting about Malaysia as a model of ethnic, cultural, religious and biological diversity and Malaysia’s rich and unique cultural heritage when restrictions continue to be in place affecting the formation of non-Muslim societies in schools?” Kit Siang had asked.

Following widespread discussion and debate on the issue, with heightened political and social pressures, the federal government finally conceded to the public demand and revoked the controversial directive.

The month-long controversy was resolved about two weeks ago when the cabinet ordered the Education Ministry to withdraw the directive. Is it truly resolved?

Yet, one obstinate school head has been reported this week to be flexing his Little Napoleon muscles to abuse his authority to prevent the formation of a Chinese society in his school.

I had foreseen that such a scenario would happen. In one of my previous Comments, I said: “I hope the school heads, some of whom practise the Little Napoleon culture, will not make things difficult for the students who want to form such clubs or societies. In fact, the school heads should help the students by providing the meeting place and appointing teachers to be advisors to guide them. If there is the unlikelihood or improbability that a school may not have a teacher practising the faith of any such club, the school concerned should allow a pastor, a priest or a religious elder acceptable to the parents of the students to act as the religious advisor. The school should also allow speakers from the churches or temples to be invited to speak at the meetings of such clubs or societies.”
[Whose credit? Not MCA’s, of course http://www.mysinchew.com/node/42891 ]

The latest complaint by parents of the Petaling Jaya school should not be taken lightly. How the federal government handles this case has far-reaching consequence to other schools, now and in future.

The federal government, through its Education Minister, should step in immediately to order the recalcitrant school head to stop his nonsense and carry on his duties without any discrimination and bias. If he doesn’t toe the line after a firm warning on the matter, disciplinary action should be taken against him. This is to send out the message loud and clear to other Little Napoleon school heads not to abuse their authority in running their schools according to their own whims and fancies.

Enough is enough! We have tolerated the nonsense by such Little Napoleons for far too long, and we want to see the federal government cracking the whip to bring the contumacious civil servants to toe the line.

If nothing positive and concrete is done to ensure that our civil service is unblemished and impeccable, as far as humanly and practically possible, then it will be a mere illusion that our nation can progress to a developed nation status.

For a start, the civil service needs a thorough mental revolution to ensure that the civil servants are neutral, impartial and non-partisan in the performance of their duties and in serving the elected government of the day.

For example, the recent case of state development office Nik Ali snubbing Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng on an Umno platform should not simply be written off, without disciplinary action taken against the unruly officer for participating in a partisan political press conference held by Umno. It is most unfortunate that even the chief secretary to the government doesn’t understand the civil service culture and code of conduct, and condoned the violation of the principle of neutrality and impartiality of the civil service.

Of course, the enormous bureaucracy of the nearly million-strong Malaysian civil service will require a determined Hercules effort and time to reform, but it is not humanly impossible to change it.

In fact, one fundamental objective of the Nasjib administration is the transformation of the government machinery, which is basically the civil service.

The total transformation of the civil service can only happen from top down. The revamp must start from the top with the mental reconditioning, performance recasting, and image remodeling of the topmost civil servants.

Is Najib serious about the need for the transformation of the civil service? If so, he must start cracking the whip, and get the civil servants, especially the Little Napoleons, to toe the line. Enough is enough! We want to see concrete changes, not political propaganda.

So now the truth is out as to why those SO-CALLED educators are permitted to jopin political parties. The policy on education has been plotted over 30 years ago to have those little napoleans doing the sub-plots on behalf of the main stream politicians who for all practical purpose have never wanted the average malaysians ot their children to compete with their children who are given overseas education with their ill-gotten money. Their plan served two purposes; to keep those ignorant rural folks where they are; inducing fears just by their own shadows and to make them feel like jaguh kampong! When they have all these years recruits people who couldn’t compete in the market to be teachers who form the majority of these little napoleans you can’t expect much. the overall strategy meets the needs of the Umno leaders’ plan rather perfectly. just like the MQA at the MOHE; with so many graduates not meeting the demands of the industry; surely by any yardstick, the MQA’s standard is a failure but from what one gathers from the educational sector, they LORD above all! Such failure is placed squarely on those graduates but MOE should be the party addressing the issue. To those parents who are concern with your children education, you have no choice except to spend more time with them to undo some of the nonsense which they are being fed at these so-called education centres!

The Petaling Jaya school head in rejecting the application to set up a Chinese society in his school, is just jaga-ing his rice bowl. His entire future would be dashed should his promotional application for a higher postition be rejected because he has allowed the formation of kaffir societies in his school.

And didnt mel_a_yu say somewhere here that muhideen had already clarified the matter and therefore it should not now be prolonged?

such headmasters should be transferred out to a religious school as he/she cannot operate in a multi-religious environment.
Makes you wonder hw such people get promoted to such important positions.

while other countries are producing talented citizen, working hand in hand to attract FDI and progressing their countries irregardless of race and religion, ours are still fighting a dark-age era battles.

what the f@$# wrong with their brains? just read how our mamak thinks, you would know how sick this man and country is. He is still in the “I am malay, your are chinese, etc” mode kind of thinking. And his disease is spreading all across those little napoleons civil servants. Bravo!!

Being a ‘doctor’, i hope he will prescribe himself mad and check-in himself to an asylum.

he is trying to cover up his every wrongdoings by equating it to chinese. Sounds like hitler, no?

How about named it after “1 malaysia chinese society”, they dare not reject it b’coz there is 1 Malaysia in it. See, how shallow my mentality, this is M’sia, what do you expect?

So what is civil service? What do they do?. I though civil service is like a dam, to hold up employment of the unemployed under NEP. Their main responsibility is to vote BN because BN is their boss.

Betulkah Mel_a_yu? Saya budak baru belajar, kalau silap tolong jolokan…

There are so many little napoleons under UMNO B government that can never change for the power of one race supremacy and privileges have made them such idiotic racists that will rule with iron hands….knowing whatever the government may say to undo their wrongful sins to divide and rule…yet these so call promoted ..more educated people to be headmasters are actually selected more of their total loyalties to UMNO B than being qualified as Head Masters.
The first group of Malaysians that migrated were the teachers of other races.
The Malaysian Chinese students ..studying overseas prefer to stay in overseas to find jobs while for decades and that please Mahathir most who outwardly project he is a non racists…but a real hypocrite crook..he is.
UMNO B should know what kind of headmasters they have made some to be.
Granted the present Min.Of Education may not be aware of this..but will he act fast and swift when being told some acted as little napoleons and going against the Govt. instructions?
No …in any Ministry…find anything wrong…these so call Ministers with the likes of Hishamuddin..dare not act . So many have big mouths to sing the tune of the day…but are irresponsible and hypocrites too.
Down the line for decades….Mahathir is the mastermind and today…he is still telling University students to keep out of politics…yet are allowed to vote at age of 21. What kind of logic is that?
At his 22 years…he declared no contest for PM post ….making him most powerful.
No contest also mean he is the biggest little Napoleon shown to the people.
Retired….he said the post should be contested.
Anyway…whatever Mahathir’s double standard talks published….plenty of educated Malaysians are running him down…yet he still continue his thick skinned nonsense.
Yes….Mahathir is the real sinful devil to keep promoting race and religion politics and if he can still talk with some UMNO B members hero worshiping him…why blame the little napoleons seen and known in schools?
Will Najib dare to act fast….since the Min.of Education have no balls?
No no no…they are of the same group…keep trying to fool Malaysians while they do not mean what they say and say what they mean.
Secretly…these little napoleons headmasters…are respected and admired by UMNO B crooks….contributing to make life difficult to Malaysians….and helpless…thus depending on UMNO B government so call generous moods …as if they inherited the whole country from their father and grandfathers.
More and more contradictions and double standards governance will be revealed.
We cannot depend on UMNO B to keep their words or do anything sincerely at all..to unite Malaysians.
They must always divide and rule…and Chinese are the smartest Malaysians that must be controlled or be frustrated to plan their migrations.
Muslims not supporting UMNO B can see how unfair and unjust UMNO B can be…and is doing their jobs to convince so many UMNO B members ..to vote against UMNO B…since Anwar was released from jail.
This dirty filthy crooked doctor who claim he cures…is the master mind creating the present disease..with his divide and rule formula and so call supporting one race…when now exposed to be supporting chosen cronies and Muslims that will die for UMNO B…and not the country and people.

  8. #8 by monsterball on Wednesday, 11 August 2010 - 10:55 am

If Mahathir thinks University students who are qualified voters… are not qualified to talk politics…then…Malaysians above 80 years old should shut up and retire from politics.
This sickening old man is free and easy because all UMNO B politicians and ministers became millionaires because of him.
And where did they all get their millions?
Hundreds of billions stolen from Malaysians.
If one spit at an UMNO B low class member driving a Merz ..that’s not jealousy.
That’s sick being cheated….yet feeling helpless..and UMNO B have in coming with Malaysians determind to free themselves…by voting CORRUPTIONS out.
Mahathir created UMNO B and it will be mainly due to him…..UMNO B must fall.
Remember..every action has an reaction..sooner or later.

We should not kid ourselves any more but to accept the reality.

    Little Napoleons are entrenched everywhere.

Little Napoleons are here to stay.

    Little Napoleons fear no-one.

    Little Napoleons Rule.

    Pay tributes to Little Napoleons.

    Long live Little Napoleons.

Long live Mel_a_yu who said that Moo Hee Din has decided in favour of public opinion, and that this issue should be closed. Can Mel_a_yu now write to all the schools in PJ to tell the headmasters of what Moo Hee Din has decreed ? In both English and Malay, please.

I’m of the opinion that all malays and non-malays who are not happy with the Umno/BN implementation of its policy to stay put and fight and those who have left to return home, join in the fight to seeing to the end of such bias policy by the present regime. What better way to fight than in the arena ? The rest of us at home, this time around must make sure,to take every opportunity to go all out (sai lang) to help ( cash or kind) ,joining PR,come what may, whatever it takes to toppling the vicious BN in the next GE.

Napoleon is but a short little man sheriff. And I reckon little napoleons must therefore be really puny fellas.

Well I mean look you may kick them in the butt and like footballs, they will just fly away.

    Vote pakatan. Kick umno.

Even if this little Napoleon, grudgingly allows the Chinese society to be formed, he will place obstacles in the way it functions. The club may not have a place to conduct meeting. A spy will be plated to see what ‘little’ mistake they have committed to justify the eventual closure of the club.
He will try to cripple the club.
Mind you, this little Napolean will be promoted in due course.

Exactly as I predicted in my comments to your blog posting on Fri Aug 6 “..[Whose credit? Not MCA’s, of course http://www.mysinchew.com/node/42891 ]..”

    I had then said:
:..Absolutely!! It is a well known fact that there are quite a few school heads who are racist bigots and by giving these powers to them, the Govt is only aggravating the problem…”

My worst fears have been confirmed though I am not in the least bit surprised because this may be only the tip of the iceberg. There are probably many more such cases which have yet to surface or reported. The only check and balance is to grant the power to the PIBG to make the recommendations within prescribed guidelines and the heads cannot reject them if all the conditions are met. Or else we will see no end to this.

Little Napoleons are stunted in stature
They are but Napoleons in miniature.
They shout and bully with intention to hide,
Their insecurity, inferiority and lack of pride.
Up there, down there and everywhere,
We won’t find any substance, anything, anywhere.

Little Napoleons here, Little Napoleons there
You can find them every where.
No rules or regulations will ever constrain them,
For they’ll just casually ignore them
Come 13th GE, Little Napoleons, beware!!

  16. #16 by AhPek on Wednesday, 11 August 2010 - 5:18 pm

To be sure little Napoleans are not only found in schools they exist everywhere in the civil service. The fact that the civil service is made up of predominantly one ethnic group ensure their existence, and they are there to ensure the continuation of the dominance of that one single group and their religion in the life of the nation. To even have any hope that some semblance of fair play would return to this nation a large number these little Napoleans will have to go,and you can be sure this action will definitely not come from UMNO led government. It will have to come from a group or coalition of groups that can oust UMNO from governing.Though the effort is Herculean,it is not impossible as asserted by Thomas Lee.It requires the collective effort of all of us to say NO to BN at the 13th GE!

The DAP should just go ahead and sue each Little Napolean in their personal capacity if they contradict Federal powers…for if they do ….they do at their own personal risk…..short of sacking these nutcases….the public should just sue for every penny they have…Anwar appears to have sued and actually won against a few of these guys…one of whom died of aheart attack after he was about to be declared bankrupt….

The DAO should take the lead and sart sueing…enough talk …and certainly enough of this little Napoleans

Can you believe that some of this Little Napoleons are carpeting their offices and members of the public who enter the office have to remove their shoes outside the office and risk loosing their shoes. No wonder foreign investors are running away as they get shocked after experiencing these types of nonsense. Put idiots in charge of anything and this is what results!

Still remember your favourite teacher ? Still remember your aggressive teacher ? The case with that politician from Kinabatangan and how he does not have to go to jail is also the work of Little Napoleons. Or else you think why the syariah law does not work at all.
