52nd National Day message
Recent events, particularly in the past few weeks, cannot but raise the concern and even alarm of Malaysians who want to see the evolution of a Bangsa Malaysia after half a century of nationhood – as Malaysia is only just a decade from the Vision 2020 deadline of achieving a Bangsa Malaysia out of the diverse races, languages, cultures and religions in the country to become a fully developed nation in 2020.
Of late, there is not only a recrudescence of the irresponsible politics of race and religion, the exploitation of the race and religion cards have reached new intensity utterly reckless of their damage to the multi-racial, multi-religious, multi-lingual and multi-cultural fabric of Malaysian society.
As a result, there is a further polarization of race and religion with the hardening of intolerant attitudes and stances, creating situations unseen or unheard of in the previous history of the nation – like the cowhead sacrilege in Shah Alam on Friday where a group protesting against the construction of a Hindu temple threatened bloodshed and committed the ultimate act of religious insensitivity, insult and profanity to Hindus by severing the head of a cow and stomping on it.
Let all patriotic Malaysians of goodwill recognize the danger signals to our plural society. Let all patriotic Malaysians regardless of party come together to save Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1Malaysia motto from heading for the rocks 150 days after becoming Prime Minister to stave off divisive and centripetal forces from further dividing and polarizing Malaysians along race and religious lines.
After five months, Najib’s 1Malaysia had failed to inspire Malaysians as an all-encompassing inclusive policy to unite Malaysians – best illustrated by the fact that Pakatan Rakyat whether at parliamentary, state government or state assembly levels are completely excluded from the formulation of a 1Malaysia policy so that it could be embraced by all Malaysians as a policy to unite rather than to divide the people.
This is the most important food for thought for all patriotic Malaysians of goodwill on the occasion of the 52nd National Day.
Already many Malaysians are asking what is there to celebrate on this National Day with the backdrop of a national polity which is not prepared to rise to the challenges and aspirations for change so unmistakably expressed in the messages of the political tsunami of the March 8 general elections last year.
Can Najib’s 1Malaysia symbolize a reaffirmation of a national resolve and commitment to build a Bangsa Malaysia where all Malaysians regard themselves as Malaysians first and their race and religious identities in second place or will it go down in history as representing the very opposite?

How to save 1malaysia when it does not even exist in the first place? 1malaysia can only happen when the racist BN is sent packing lock, stock and barrel.

With so many ‘disturbing’ events happening at our doorsteps each passing day on the eve of we celebrating our 52nd National Day, one wonders whether the 1Malaysia concept and ideals are for real. All peaceful and loving Malaysians should take stock of ourselves and ponder over our future!
A “Happy National Day” to one and all!

I would like very much to hear a joint Merdeka statement from PR on the eve of our national day. If today, PAS, DAP and PKR were to come up with a statement stating the vision for a united Malaysia, what would this be?

The Clive Kessler interview is quite interesting – I’m grateful to boh-liao for posting a link to it, but I wonder at the motivation for the racial epithet he used. Immigration and naturalisation are facts of life. It’s never too late to learn to deal respectably with ‘red hair’ on the heads of some of your fellow Malaysians – my children, for example. That’s a major problem with thinking of Malaysia as a ‘plural’ society: you think there are countably few different kinds of Malaysian.
I’m not sure about Kessler’s “safe mediocrity” though. Perhaps he means ‘safe’ for those in power.

This year…in Subang Jaya….. one house out of the whole row of houses….hang out the National flag. Last year….you could see…much more.
I drove around and completely no flags…..except KFC or McDonald..
I can feel Malaysians have enough of UMNO nonsense.
This is good sign….Malaysians want change of government and life is so difficult right now….people are more interested to spend the holidays quietly with the family…and seems to let days go by…until 13th GE.
Whatever Najib said or do…means nothing to Malaysians.
Teoh Beng Hock did not die in vain. Mongolian lady too. PKFZ scandal top the list……with MCA guys…fighting each other…for survival.
“1Malaysia” is being exposed….how disunited BN parties are.
Malaysians need no Najib’s “1Malaysia”
Ordinary folks are always united and peaceful.
It is UMNO trying to divide and rule..now talk “1Malaysia”…exposing how hypocritical UMNO is….always putting acts of nonsense to win votes.
Yes…Malaysians have seen USA Americans opened their eyes for 180% change.
That is exactly what we must do too.
Malaysians are slogging…feeling so tired…trying to make ends meet….is so sick of UMNO and Najib.

The only way to celebrate Merdeka is to begin now the preparation of the end of Umno-BN regime.
The opposition DJP of Japan had just outsted the long ruling LDP.
So will the PR. There is no two way about it.

To celebrate Merdeka, Let’s list down the crimes of Umnoputras and the Utusans:
1. The cowhead incitement
2. The calling on the Malays to rise
3. Calling others traitors and threats to the Malays
4. Misuse of public property for personal matters
5. No respect for the minorities
6. The Perak coup
7. The harassment of Karpal Singh
8. The death of Teoh Beng Hock

For those of us who love the country and who wish to live as one race, it pains us to see there are those who are taking the opposite stance.
They are reckless and irresponsible in their words and in their deeds. But what sadden us is these people don’t seen to care what their words and actions are tearing this nation apart. All they care for is themeselves and their own interests.
It is indeed sad to see our nation being put through this treacherous stage by its own citizens. This group of people is in the minority so when the time comes for those who love this country to be counted, this treacherous group of opportunists will be wiped out.
Malaysia will live … Happy Merdeka !

I agree that all patriotic Malaysians should help to save the nation but saving Najib and UMNO need not be part of the solution.

There is no use for Najib to talk about 1 Malaysia unless he is prepared to sack those powerful heads who have contributed to the worsening racial tension and public trust of government. On top of the list of those who must be dismissed are:
1 The IGP
2 The AG
3 Chief Commissioner of MACC
4 The corrupted judges

sightseeing…Najib needs all those you said..to protect himself…protect past and present cabinet corrupt ministers and many more UMNO’s influential members..corrupted and greedy..all of them..to stay in power.
It is a game to win votes and protect themselves…and not really a party for Malaysians…to be..by the people..and with the people. It is always for the Malays..they are trying to fool.
UMNO must divide and rule and depend on Malays to be racialists…to win and rule again.
Such devils in disguises…needs corrupted 4 points you mentioned..to protect them.
How to sack the corrupted 4 groups ?
The main point is….most police are not corrupted but loyal in their profession.
Not all lawyers and judges under the AG are corrupt too.
MACC is gone case…a band of puppets bought up by Najib,,…and chosen by him.
Not all judges are corrupt too.
Therefore….there is a slim hope of justice to be executed by fair minded judges..as seen in Anwar’s case…right now.

PM: Tear down the walls that divide
Aug 31, 09 1:02am
Likening unity to a bridge that connects the people and disunity to walls that divide them, Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak has urged the people to restore the bridge and tear down the
walls that separate them.
“Beginning from the bitter chapter of the Bintang Tiga brutality, the monumental need to create meaning to our independence which was gained without bloodshed, socio-economic imbalance, ethnic discord on May 13, 1969, the economic downturn of the 80′s and the Asian economic crisis at the end of the 90′s. All of these were confronted and we survived all,” he said.

Here is something to ponder on, Malaysians.
*extract from wikipedia.org:
The Mongol Empire was one of the most ethnically and culturally diverse empires in history, as befitted its size.
Many of the empire’s nomadic inhabitants considered themselves Mongols in military and civilian life, including Turks, Mongols, and others and included many diverse Khans of various ethnicities as part of the Mongol Empire such as Muhammad Khan.
There were tax exemptions for religious figures and, to some extent, teachers and doctors.
The Mongol Empire practiced religious tolerance to a large degree because Mongol tradition had long held that religion was a very personal concept, and not subject to law or interference.[citation needed]
Sometime before the rise of Genghis Khan, Ong Khan, his mentor and eventual rival, had converted to Nestorian Christianity.
Various Mongol tribes were Buddhist, Muslim, shamanist or Christian. Religious tolerance was thus a well established concept on the Asian steppe.

Today PM Datuk Seri Najib Razak urged the people to repair their bridges and tear down the divisive walls that existed among the races. Yes, I am a Malay Malaysian totally agreed with PM Najib strong Merdeka statement.
The Rakyat love Najib’s slogan “1Malaysia, People First, Performance Now” but the current sandiwara politics played by Utusan UMNO will change this slogan to “1Malays, UMNO First, Priority Now” is a mojar GREAT WALL OF MALAYSIA for disunity among Malaysians of all races and religions.
Do our readers agree here ?
The Rakyat want to ask 3 simple questions to PM Najib in response to his Merdeka statement as follows:-
Question 1 : Do UMNO warlords are ready and agree to obey their UMNO President, Najib noble instructions to break down the racist divisive walls that existed among the races for 52 years ?
Question 2 : Do UMNO medias, TV3, Utusan Malaysian, NSTP and Berita Harian will immediate stop broadcasting and publishing racist articles that incite hatred among Malaysians and cease their lies against non-Malays taken the Malay rights ?
Question 3:- Do UMNO, MCA, MIC, Gerakan and other racist BN component parties are able to build a unity bridges which connect all Malaysian people together since they have failed to do so in 52 years?
The Rakyat can judge and see a better Malaysia in future under PKR, DAP and PAS in Pakatan Rakyat are more liberal, fair, tolerance and justice in their efforts to build bridges of unity among all races after they won 5 states and 82 MP seats in 12 GE. Unfortunately, the Rakyat is very dissapointed with 1Malaysia concept was a total failure when UMNO warlords continue to divide and rule all Malaysians by ways of playing racist and religion agendas to disunite all races in Malaysia. Do our readers agree too ?
Happy Merdeka – So What ?

Japan LDP admit defeats in grace. They said they would help to ensure DJP to form a new Government smoothly.
They said they got the message and would work harder in order to regain Japanese trust in the next GE.
On the other hand, just look at UMNO and Perak state, what it wants is just power, by hook or by crook!
UMNO needs another 1000 years to learnt to be civilized!

There is no need to shout 1Malaysia. All that the government needs to do is tearing down the walls that divide us, and let the 1Malaysia spirit evolves among the multi-racial population. 1Malaysia hinges on the government always practises what it preaches. Of course we love this country that we call home, but the government…

I was thinking that this Cow Head incident is a golden opportunity to spin it to Sarawakian and Sabahan what UMNO/BN rule will be if they increase their influence over them. The Dayaks, Ibans, Kadazan still have practises that goons like these want to eliminate… When Taib goes away, they will UMNOise, cow-head kind of UMNOnisation, Sarawak and Sabah for sure because there is no replacement and UMNO can only remain in power by colonising Sarawak and Sabah…

“Tear Down the Wall” the party president who is also the PM say it beautifully, but his own party members are the one who keep building the wall against the races.
We have to live with the reality that, this world can not be equal how best you want it to be.
We have also to admit that, the cow head incident the polis refused to take immediate action, as they believe their action will further anger the protesters, which is also true. But this is only simply because this was involve a special group of people fighting a special course which is view as privileged.
But, what can’t action being taken against like those published in Utusan where the articles has enforced the barrier wall? Will action taken against those who use the pen will create chaos ?
Yes, agree in totality with PM to tear down the wall that divide, was it not action should be taken against utusan first? Why keep quite with any action on those who wrote that divide piece ?
Najib must be honest to what he say.
Today we also see a 50 years ruling party in Japan changed hand. On the same note, it will happen in Malaysia too. MAy be 50 years is the time to changed. This is law of nature. And it is good. Not single party or coalition should let it rule for too long as this will not benefit the people.
Time for change and it is unavoidable. Like it or not.
Let prepare for it and change also bring uncertainty but we have to face it as this is part of history.

42 minutes Merdeka Parade…shortest in the history of Independence.
Naturally ….blame it on HINI…but the actual fact is…no spectators…and they knew what’s coming…so have it at Parliament house….no streets…therefore logic..no spectators.
52nd Merdeka Parade is for UMNO guys and invited members only…and look at the faces……..no smile…..no chit chat.
Even the King must have felt unhappy and uncomfortable.
And in Malaysiakin….very interesting reports ..covering the Communist Party members.still alive…65 years old to 84..years all spoke…and all said they fought the British to free Malaysia and Malaysia is exactly the same like before..run by a few Malays…to suck us dry.
They said they never consider Malaysians as the enemy at all…but in war…killed or to be killed.
Yes the British used rulers and UMNO ..long after Merdeka….and Mahathir is the classic example…of what those survivors are talking about. Mahathir simply love British cunning and cruel methods of the past..to being forwards to the present in Malaysia.
The survivors said UMNO never tell the truth in history books.
Now let youngsters go and conclude…to believe old folks like us…who have lived through history or from books prepared by UMNO ..to brainwash minds..with false informations…doing it everyday..non stop for 52 years.
It is the Internet…that woke the minds of millions.

Congratulations ! No Merdeka Celebration – what a great SHAME to BN Gomen today.
BN Gomen is too broke after RM12.5 billion tax payers’ money evaporated in PKFZ scandal, Toyo RM24 million mansion, UMNO money politics and the BN lost badly in 12 GE. It is a punishment for the Rakyat voters who voted the PR Oppositions to rule 5 rich states and reduced BN Gomen 2/3 majority.
What a great foolish excuses to blame on holy puasa month and influenza A( H1N1) to call off the Merdeka celebration ? I felt totally ashamed and disgusted with BN politicians and UMNO goons for their unchanged attitudes, corrupts and greeds to deny the Rakyat joy and happiness to celebrate tsunami changes in this Merdeka Day 2009.
Malaysians of all races have been living happily together for 52 years We are sad to read everyday, there is sure to be at least one news article about racism – be it to “remind” the nation to live in harmony, or a report about disrespectful behaviour towards another religion as what happen to cow head protestors showed their unIslamic actions against other religion during pre-Merdeka day.
It is time we should look “EAST POLICY” in Japan, the opposition Democratic Party won with a landslide victory in Japan in weekend general election and great political tsunami changes to kick out the Liberal Democratic Party ruled for 54 years.
Similar, the Rakyat bless and prayed Pakatan Rakyat is able to triumph BN for a greatest political tsunami of total changes in next 13 GE. The Rakyat and PR need to break down the “Great Wall of UMNO” today in order to build bridges of unity of all races under a new MERDEKA chapter. Then, the Rakyat can really have a big BANG on forthcoming new real “MERDEKA DAY” under a new PR Gomen.
Today Happy Merdeka Day – So what ?
