Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir should cut the Gordian knot of the Perak political crisis by agreeing to the dissolution of the Perak State Assembly or he will go down in history as the infamous “illegitimate Perak Mentri Besar” and dragging with him Najib Razak.
If Zambry is a democrat and believes that he has the mandate from the voters of Perak to be Mentri Besar, he should not have any qualm in opting for the only decent, honest and honourable solution to the political crisis – dissolution of the Perak State Assembly to return the mandate to the Perak voters to elect the Mentri Besar and government of their choice.
Zambry should know better than anyone that the illegal and unconstitutional power grab orchestrated by the Prime Minister-in-waiting, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, is a great disservice to the cause of the healthy growth of parliamentary democracy in the country.
This is because Zambry should have realized by now that he has no credibility and legitimacy whatsoever as the Perak Mentri Besar among the people of Perak and Malaysia – which explains why he had such a short fuse in his first media conference as the illegitimate Mentri Besar of Perak on Tuesday.
Najib might have thought that with the toppling of the Pakatan Rakyat state government and the undemocratic power grab in Perak, he has achieved a great coup which will redound to his credit in the UMNO general assembly next month when he is formally anointed Umno President and the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia.
But he cannot be more wrong. Times have changed. Najib’s calculations might be right if such an undemocratic coup d’etat had been orchestrated in the past half-century, but in the era of the information age, where the people are not only exposed to more information but have higher expectations about accountability, transparency, rule of law, democracy and good governance, the illegal and unconstitutional power grab like the one orchestrated by Najib in Perak is completely unacceptable.
Najib is going to pay a very heavy price as he would be forfeiting the privileges of his First Hundred Days when he takes over as the sixth Prime Minister of Malaysia, for his every word and action as the new Prime Minister will come under the dark cloud because of his undemocratic, illegal and unconstitutional coup d’etat in Perak.
The recent opinion poll by Merdeka Centre that 74% of Perak voters felt that the state assembly should be dissolved to pave way for elections while 76% of voters felt that “the people, through elections” should decide on forming the Perak state government sends out clear and unmistakable messages of the people.
The choice is in the hands of Zambry, whether he wants to go down in history as the infamous “illegitimate Perak Mentri Besar” dragging Najib along with him or whether he is prepared to subordinate personal interests to the higher interests of Perak and democracy by agreeing to the dissolution of the Perak State Assembly to end the political crisis in Perak, which will also release Najib from the millstone of the illegal and unconstitutional power grab in Perak.

There has already been a precedent. In the 1994 state election, PBS won the election, however shortly after being announced the winner, almost all PBS assemblymen defected to Barisan Nasional. Pairin was not allowed to be sworn in as Chief Minister. Tun Sakaran Dandai of UMNO was then sworn to be the eighth Chief Minister of Sabah.

This illegitimate ‘son’ borne out of the ‘rape’ on Perak’s sanctity of constitutionally elected state government is of no significance nor consequence for he is merely the puppet of the Rapist Supremo. All this barking on the b*st*rd makes Rapist Supremo no less motivated in moving the next chess piece of his grand plan.
Soon Rapist Supremo has the whole country to rape – not that this country has not been raped before but he will do it his ‘See-Four’ style.

Perak speaker still in Pakatan hands
By Neville Spykerman KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 14 — Perak’s constitution makes no provisions for the removal of its legislative assembly speaker and Barisan Nasional is stuck with DAP’s V. Sivakumar….

Sdr LKS,
To ask Zamry to vacate his seat now and to return the mandate to the Perak voters is mission impossible, as his government is treading a road-of-no-return.
He has to answer his political masters and to take their orders. What about his “appointment” as MB by hrh sultan Perak? He would not dare offend his highness by relinquishing the appointment now that he had been sworn in by him? That could be an act of disloyalty and may be construed as “derhaka” too? Who knows what is what in this volatile and directionless situation?
On the other hand Zamry is facing the wrath of a people who are crying foul over the manner their votes had been wrested and done away with recklessly and unconstitutionally in a perceived clandestine back-room negotiated coup d’etat.
So, damned if he does and damned if he does not. What an unsavoury dilemma!
His cherished appointment to the highest office in the state may soon turn out to be a nightmare.
The state-wide protest, nation-wide even, against the perceived unconstitutional back-door negotiations, high-handedness, disregard for the voters sentiment, racial and senseless posturing by UMNO’s agents, reckless abuse of government machinery and apparatus, questionable character and integrity of the defectors, seeming treachery, and the myriad of unanswered questions do not make sense of the political situation in Perak.
Wisdom, reason, intellect, sensibility and, perhaps, even common sense seem to have deserted those in high office.

to najis altantuya… ptuiiiii

Since the Speaker is still in the hands of PR, this is the way to dissolve the assembly.
Remember that the Speaker has declared the seats of 3 frogs vacant so the tally is BN=28, PR=27 (speaker not allowed to vote)
1. Wait for some boorish behaviour from the BN assemblymen. Suspend 2 of them.
2. Speaker accepts motion of no-confidence against MB.
3. Motion of no-confidence passed with PR=27 against BN=26
4. Nizar sees Sultan to dissolve assembly and call fresh elections.

One can keep pointing out or expose all the truthful negative characteristics of UMNO politicians and leaders…they will ignore.
You can advised them…to have morals and dignity…they will do the opposite.
They have ignored LKS for more than 40 years….why listen to him now?
Rewards for truths by LKS will be rewarded… much more than Penang…..only in elections.
Those UMNO worms will …..by hook or by crook..find all sorts of ways…to rule forever.
#9 by KennyGan on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 2:36 pm
Another way:
1) Speaker resigns
2) The assembly is hung at BN=28, PR=28
3) Since the speaker cannot be appointed with a hung assembly and no business can be transacted without the speaker, the assembly must be dissolved.

Datuk Najib and BN will earn more respect if he admit the gross injustice done on Perakians by returning the mandate to the people. The anger of the people can’t be wrong.

UMNO led BN Goverment is as good as dead. All the main stream Media. Are reporting “” This is what the people of perak want”.The BACK DOOR MB of perak even had the guts to say that “”if the chiness want he will made the FROG HEE an EXCO member what rubbish. All the main stream Media had painted a very bad picture about PR.
Let us all teach this Media comanies a good lesson. We must stop buying their papers. I stop buying a long time ago.Now i only read it on line for free. This is the only way to teach them. I even taught my parents how to read the papers online.

Two wrongs won’t make a right.
The people’s mandate belongs to the people. There are no two ways about it. If it is unjustly and unlawfully taken away from them, be prepared to face the wrath of the people. It has been said that “the wrath of the people becomes the voice of God”.
Let’s be humble and the rest will follow. Let good sense prevail.

Funny that you’ve not said anything against Anwar’s plan of taking over the federal government via the same `illegal and unconstitutional’ methods. Because of that, I’m afraid you have lost the moral ground LKS! People say that the most dangerous kind of people are `lalangs’. They bend according to the wind depending on what suits them best and I’m afraid you are turning into one of them. Karpal on the other hand has always been consistent on this matter and only he can still maintain the moral high ground on this matter – for that at least I salute him!

his govt is surely non of the above.

Ms Hee is in a dilemma.
She’s been sidelined by the BN government. She has been very unhappy of late because she did not get her Camry and the Exco’s post she craved for and which was promised to her. In fact, Zambry said she will be appointed “only if the people want her” which they don’t. So she’s realised she’s been played out.
She’s miserable and wants to go back to DAP which now don’t want her but wants her to vacate her seat. So this “Independent” is now a solo and she may vacate her seat as she and her family just can’t take the stress anymore.
So does the DAP still want her?
#18 by sheriff singh on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 4:24 pm
Ms Hee is still the Deputy Speaker though and is she in the same position as the Speaker i.e. that she cannot be dismissed etc?

imranj78 Says: Funny that you’ve not said anything
You’re not still on about that? It doesn’t matter, does it? The ‘moral high ground’ is not the same as ‘unconstitutional’ or even ‘illegal’! If Anwar had succeeded in soliciting turncoats, PR would now be in the same position BN is: every BN supporter would be baying for legal action and BN may well have recruited new principled voters who believe that the party printed next to the mark they make on the voting slip is the one the elected person should stick with. I can’t believe how well this whole thing has turned out for PR.
#21 by taiking on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 5:13 pm
Najib made one crucial mistake. Using Bush Jr’s famously wrong language I say Najib clearly misjudged perakians and “misunderestimated” their reaction. Mahathir was instrumental in the creation of money politics in umno and so far (fortunately) the culture has remain rooted there. Najib thought he could export it. The common perakians may not be rich (unlike umnoputras) they are certainly honest people with ethics and conscience and are law abiding citizens. In one word, they all are disgusted with and despise the najib-led power grab in perak by bn. Let them tell umno so in one unanimous voice in the coming by-election.
Badawi brought umno down with his half-awake thoughts and najib will bring umno down further with his sleepy face and greedy heart.
#22 by ENDANGERED HORNBILL on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 5:29 pm
But Zambry is Najib’s ‘yes-man’.
Najib is building his circle of ‘yes-men’ and bag-carriers. This is good because the end of BN and UMNO will then come swiftly after that.
#23 by wanderer on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 5:52 pm
The sultan has brought all these uncertainties of the State upon himself. If he did a Pontius Pirate, dissolved the Assembly, he would still be held with high respect and affections from his subject. Now, he has created two govts, with one who is a all powerful speaker who belonged to the legal govt. Who would him recognize as MB in the house? The answer is obvious.
Sultan, as learned man and served as a Lord President, his decision is most disappointing and costing embarrassment to the nation and a laughing stock to the region.
If he has to regain his respect from his subjects, he should rectify his mistake and let Perakians have the choice to choose their govt.
#24 by Kathy on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 6:02 pm
All these unhappiness was brought on by those elected Assembly personnel that thought they might also get what they want when they jump like frogs over the fence to the other side. It does not help that the whole country knows what is going on but unable to voice out (unlike my hero, Karpal Singh) and be labeled as “treason”.
#25 by Taxidriver on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 6:24 pm
Sheriff Singh,
“Ms Hee is still the Deputy Speaker though and is she in the same position as the Speaker i.e. that she cannot be removed”
………………………………………………………………………………
Since the Speaker had already received her resignation letter and accepted her wish to vacate her state assembly seat, the issue of whether she can or cannot be removed by whatsoever means does not arise. She is OUT and the seat is VACANT. PERIOD.
#26 by KennyGan on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 6:50 pm
The traitor Hee is arguably the most hated woman in Malaysia now. The Star reports that the landlord of the shoplot where she set up her service centre no longer wants to rent to her as he fears the place vandalized by angry Perakians.
If Hee wants to end this honourably (if she has any honour) she should pay back whatever she got from BN, apologize to the community and resign her seat to trigger a by-election.
She will not be able to enjoy her ill-gotten gains but at least she can hold her head high and her family will stop bearing the brunt of the community’s anger.

“…The choice is in the hands of Zambry, whether he wants to go down in history as the infamous “illegitimate Perak Mentri Besar” dragging Najib along with him….”
How could a Pawn be dragging down a kingpin? In ordinary course of events, it is the Kingpin who drags down the Pawn without the latter being able to do anything…
Neither would it be productive to appeal to the Pawn to make the Kingpin see the light.
For Pawn never sees the light. He is not supposed to see the bigger picture. A Pawn is just a piece in the big ChessBoard to serve the Kingpin moves. The latter is the player that determines how the Pawn moves.
It will be more productive if we turn away to look into the implications of three areas/developments and how to leverage on them, the most important being the third:
1. the fact that PR’s V. Sivakumar is still Perak Assembly Speaker and there’s nothing in Perak State Constitution that provides for his removal by BN’s assemblymen; the fact that Sivakumar has referred Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and 6 BN state executive councillors to the state legislative assembly’s committee of privileges for contempt of the state assembly following compliant of Canning assemblyman Wong Kah Who. What other powers does Perak Assembly Speaker have under Perak Assembly’s Standing Orders that may be leveraged against the so-called illegal and unconstitutional power grab in Perak”?
2. By-Elections for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat in Perak and the Bukit Selambau state assembly seat in Kedah;
3. Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi’s statement on Thursday that the general election might be held before the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) summit in Senegal, mid-March. Umno has barred all its party office bearers from leaving the country to prepare for the upcoming polls. Following the BN council meeting, Abdullah, who is Umno president, would be addressing all 191 Umno divisional leaders at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) on election matters. See Malaysiakini Report – Andrew Ong | Jan 19, 08 3:49p.
The most important is 3. If there’s going to be a snap general election, all other issues whether illegal and unconstitutional power grab in Perak or by-Elections for the Bukit Gantang parliamentary seat in Perak and the Bukit Selambau state assembly seat in Kedah are relegated to unimportance.
The thing to think about is why a snap GE when it is commonly thought that BN is not in favour of it at this juncture. Is this something agreed between PM and DPM or the former has something up his sleeve to do so? As long as Pak Lah is still PM he has prerogative to ask the King to dissolve Parliament. Is PR prepared?
#31 by Jeffrey on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 7:54 pm
Is it because Najib wants fresh mandate from a GE? Given economy might get worse from mid 2009 onwards would it be Najib’s calculations that his chances of getting a mandate mid March is safer? However given the present scenario, will a snap GE ensure a BN or PR’s win? Does PM have other calculations and considerations, if so what are they?
PR ask for a Perak State election and complains being unconstitutionally denied. Whats the problem now – if you’re afforded a country wide 13th general election after March? Is that more or less than what you want? :)
#32 by alaneth on Saturday, 14 February 2009 - 8:13 pm

Shock of shocks it will be, but PKR will be back in power in Perak. Will it happen? But think about it.

The PM : DS Mohd. Nizar
The DPM: DAP and PKR (YB Lim Guan Eng and PKR…)
Senior Advicers: DSAI, YB Lim Kit Siang, and YB Hadi Awang
Spiritual Leader: Tok Guru Nik Aziz
S. Legal Advicer:YB Karpal Singh
What’s so great about LGE? What’s his greatest achievement besides putting up multilingual road signs and street name in Penang??? Without NEPOTISM and his beloved dad…..I bet someone else would be Penang Chief Minister today !!!
It is a known fact DAP is a party that represents a particular community and practice nepotism without regard to the individual’s merit…Why a CONTEMPORARY AND TOLERANT leader like Dr Tan Seng Giaw who hardly ever touch on sensitive issues involving race, religion and others’ supremacy as stipulated in the Federal Constitution was not given the opportunity to lead the party?
This Time I happen to agree with the leaders of a tiny country…..ONLY MAJORITY can hold the highest positions in the cabinet as well as top Government agencies……In that tiny country….only 1 minister from a particular ethnic holding INSIGNIFICANT position, despite having a composition of 14% of the country population……It would be the first time in the nation history if DPM position were given to DAP…….If this happened ….the majority will forever regret for loosing their supremacy…..

Too bad that Umno are resorting to much more dirtier tactics for political gains these days.
Not only do they use money to bribe but they are now trying to drag rulers into politics as well, by pretending to be loyalist.
Sad to say that from yesterday’s news report that the sultan of selangor has voiced out his support to the sultan of Perak for his unwise action recently.
This is very \dangerous\ as it will encourage more power grab across every states which are controlled by opposition.

Can recommend some healthy medicine to treat this unhealthy malady of unnecessary greed and pain in one rear-end uncouthness in public behaviour if no self-treatment is being responsibly sought and administered.
Why not you good Perakites ratchet up the dosage of your smart support for your good governance system, and for your brave and fighting for you now mentor Sultan, and transform your yukky distaste for unhealthy political backstabbing by delivering to these too hungry for illegitimate power politicians, your very own homestate-cooked dishy versions of the rakyat’s own “coup d’etats” – good generous servings of unrecognition of legitimacy towards these ill-mannnered backstabbers through a very tasty, state-wide Hartal served to them on a BIG reflective sterling-silver platter?
