No need to challenge. How to globalize when our leaders are mostly corrupted?

even hollywood (i.e. Disclosure - if not mistaken) implies -- actually quite explicit-- the peril of NEP.

And that was more than 10 years back.

While the rest of the asian Tigers are going for modernisation and globalisation our sleeping beauty is buying votes with the corridors thingy.

Farming can only get you so far. Yes it's important to farm but to begin projects without any clear vision or direction will just be to waste funds. It's also a way to becoming a full fledged banana republic. ( u know Philippines produce quite a lot of good quality bananas but they can only sell for so much )

Depriving quality people/investors based on race and religion from the certain schemes will basically create another middle east inside SEA. Yes you can cater for the Indonesian market but will the real money come to Malaysia? Unlikely. Singapore is modern and fun , instead of restriction by religious diatribes and race politics. Together with Taiwan and HK and even Bangkok and Bali SEA is a fun place with the exception of Malaysia. Which seems to be a simmering pot of negative feelings rather than a melting pot of cultures.

Protectionism should end somewhere, sometime. After so many years of spoon feeding, this group of "parasites" should at least try to stand up and face the world, not hide in their shells anymore!!

It is a fallacy and ignorant assumption to make that with the removal of the current government and the corrupt leaders, all our problems are over.

This is only the beginning of a painful journey. I am not advocating that the current approach should be maintained but I am stating the fact that changing the leadership is only the first step.

It would be painful journey littered with hardship which is necessary if we intend to correct the wrongs committed by the previous generations.

It is like recovering from cancer. After a major operation is performed to remove the tumor, chemotherapy is required to kill the remnants with great pain and side-effects.
After that a lengthy recovering period is needed with properly controlled diet. No more fatty oily rich food, but clear nutritious porridge. A diet which is good for the body but not very tasty.
After all this, when the patient has recovered, an observation period is needed to make sure the cancer doesn't recur.

Our country is sick now with a major cancer. It is best we do the right thing and cure before it becomes a terminal disease.

The question lies in whether we have the courage to start the treatment?

If we do, do we have the will to endure the treatment as well ?

And if we do have the will, do we have the diligence to make sure such problems do not occur again in the future ?

Ask ourselves these questions first.

Most of the Malays only feel comfortable and secure if they live in a coconut shell (aka NEP) . The racist UMNO politicians have given them warnings that if the coconut shell is taken away, they will die from exposure to the fresh air and sunlight around them.

In order for UMNO to survive, they will have no choice but to poison the minds of those ignorant Malays.

The Malay race would be more open minded and ready to face competition if and only if peoples like the Son-In-Law of PM and the terrorist-styled Education Minister cease to exist.

"Should we rest on our laurels and continue to believe that we can be sheltered by the proverbial coconut shell.."

The coconut shell would be too small to act as shelter for our egos.
